Feedback, guidelines, and policies regarding reporting posts and blogs

Using The Feedback Forum

This forum is primarily for genuine feedback such as queries, suggestions, or comments in general about GUPSHUP that members might wish to make. The primary function is not to complain about other members, moderators or Admin. Bearing that in mind, here are some general guidelines as to how this Forum should be used:

  1. For queries regarding Custom titles or Avatars, Mr Custom should be contacted directly.

  2. For all queries relating to the removal or editing of your thread(s) or post(s) in a specific forum, please send a PM to the relevant forum moderator(s).

  3. If a member has a cause for complaint against another GUPSHUP user or an action of a moderator, then these should first be taken up with the relevant forum moderator via e-mail or PM. If a member still feels that they have not received a satisfactory explanation the next step should be to contact Admin, again via e-mail or PM. Hopefully this will resolve the matter. As a last resort if a member does post a complaint in Feedback, please be patient and wait for a response from either a Moderator or Admin.

  4. Because of the nature of the forum, chit-chat or banter should be avoided as we expect only serious queries or input from our members here. Any irrelevant comments will be deleted, or moved, for this reason.

For Feedback Forum to continue to function, it is necessary that members don’t abuse this opportunity by resorting to petty or offensive behaviour. Please bear in mind that the same rules which you agree to upon registering also apply here.

In addition, please note that all existing threads in the Feedback will be reviewed for their usefulness to future members, and threads which don’t serve this purpose will be removed from here.

Policy Update: For your reading pleasure

Feedback is not Café.
No flooding, no mockup threads. Feedback is only for genuine Complaints/Concerns/Suggestions/Feedbacks and to report an issue. A light hearted comment here and there is fine but OP needs to be a real FB post or it will be removed.

Username changing policy
It may appear differently but we have a very strict policy of not changing usernames. There are very few exceptions to that policy and we deal with them on case to case basis. PM the director directly if you have specific questions regarding your own nick.

Deactivating of account.
Technically, on Vbulletins, there is no such thing as deactivating an account. Even though we can delete an account but that will interrupt the flow of tons and tons of thread (where that account holder posted his/her comments). Please do not argue on this as this option (deleting) is not available. Users are requested to simply stop using their account if they don’t want account to be active anymore. If you have a concern that someone else can use your account, please PM the director or any admin and he/she can block the posting privileges of that account so no one can ever use it.

Reporting a post/PM/Blog
Reporting is a great tool and all are encouraged to use that to report an abusive post, blog or even a PM. As soon as you report it, a copy of that report self-creates a thread in the Mod Forum (hidden from general member) and if it’s a genuine report, an action is taken ASAP.

On a side note, I want to clarify that private blogs can be reported too so be very careful about what you are posting in your blog, or what others are posting in it. Though our policies are very relaxed about blogs but Blog moderators (currently, that would be TLK and Ehsan, Feb 14, 2011) can enter your blog and delete/edit the blog or the comment. This is not to invade your privacy but to prevent the postings of distasteful materials. Just imagine if someone starts posting Porn in his/her Private blog. Would you like that to be removed, even if many cannot see it and it’s only viewable by the contacts of that blogger? BTW, just for the pro-privacy people’s sake, a private blog can only be reported by the people who are part of your blog, so before you throw stones at us for not respecting your privacy, you should make sure that you know who your friends are.

About PM reporting; yes a PM can be reported but we do not have access to anyone’s PMs. When someone reports a PM, an auto generated copy of that PM comes with the report and admins take an action based on the copy of that PM.

If you have any questions about what I said in this thread, please post your comments in a new thread.

If you want me to add clarification of some other concern of yours, please ask about that in your thread and I will add my comment here.

Re: Policy Update: For your reading pleasure

*Asking for the reason of someone's ban. *
Why XXXX is banned/warned/blocked out?" kind of threads are not allowed anymore. GS has a strict rule of not discussing the warning or ban issued to any member, in public. If you have a concern about someones warning/ban, please PM the CM or the director about it.

re: Feedback, guidelines, and policies regarding reporting posts and blogs

Blogs and forum posts:

-Any blogs or forum posts on moderation will be deleted. Persistent behavior of such nature will result in infractions. PM the Mod or relevant CM first, failing that PM any admin and please follow the policy which states this below and in post 1 of this thread and is in place since 2003:
