Fed gov owes NWFP $2 billion

So it’s official, what people in NWFP have been complaining about for decades has been confirmed by an independent panel. The federal government has been depriving NWFP of it’s right of royalty amounting: to almost 2 billion dollars from 1991 to 2006 and probably 4 billion dollars if one includes the period between 1973 to 1990. One can guessetimate how many billions have from the Baloch (in their case stretching back since the 1950’s). One can only hope that the opponents of development and provincial rights in Islamabad don’t find a way of defaulting once again.

NWFP wrests Rs110bn hydel profit from Wapda

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: The arbitration tribunal on the hydel profit dispute between the NWFP and Wapda on Monday unanimously concluded that the power utility should make a net additional payment of Rs110.4 billion to the NWFP within five years as arrears of Tarbela Dam profit.

The five-member tribunal, headed by former chief justice of the Supreme Court Ajmal Mian, handed over its final award to the respective parties in the presence of their counsel, ending a 14-year-old legal battle. The tribunal’s award is binding, comes into force at once and cannot be challenged in any court of law.

I think that is understood, sparing that hefty sums of $ 4 bn from Centre means deducing that amount from Punjab's budget and I am astonished how will they perpetuate their agenda of "para likha punjab hamara".
That is only possible on the resources of the smaller provinces, if they return them their legitimate share, then Punjab will have to rely on their "Gandam" only, which is hardly enough for their own tummies.

^ I wouldn't be surprised if population from other parts of country pays additional penalty like surcharges (FAC - Fuel Adjustment Charges) to compensate theft of electricity.
