We are glad to announce that Feb 2014 is going to be a Moderator free month. Now please note that I said Moderator Free, and not Moderation Free. That means that only times moderation is going to happen is when you report it. So please make sure that you are aware of the reporting tool. Its a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside, located at the lower bar of every post, towards the left side of the bar. Many of you are already aware of that tool and have used it successfully. You can report a post, a blog, and even a PM.
Here are the simple logistics of the Moderator Free Month.
No thread or post is going to see any moderation till you report it.
Thread or post must be in violation of GS policies to be considered for the moderation. So once you report it, then mods of that forum will look at it and decide whether a real violation has happened. Then they will consider it for an action.
Mods are going to be around but they are going to remove their custom titles. This does not mean that they are going to be under cover. You can still access the list of mods from this page Show Groups - GupShup Forums. This is so you wont feel a sword hanging on you when you see five mods in a thread.
We will start from Feb 1st 2014 and will end on 28th. This is to test this model.
I cant think of anything else, I think this is pretty self explanatory. Do ask if you have any questions.
Moderation is needed at all times and all it needs is very vigilant and careful moderator team.
Why should posters have to report any violation before any moderator intervenes?
(Recently Khattichick without me reporting, edited an offensive and idiotic post. That was great and should be followed all the time)
Aren't moderators suppose to know when any bad post or out of bound post is posted?
Are we making moderators slow and lazy?
All of those questions can be looked at as if a city like Karachi or New York has Police force sitting in their comfort houses until someone calls emergency line. Otherwise, banks could be robbed and women could be raped on streets without police patrolling the area.
And for any response to my post, I must make it clear:
1- Moderation is important tool on any forum like this.
2- Moderators are essential tool for keeping the site clean and making people behave.
3- Just as a city cannot afford to have havoc without policemen, a forum site should have moderation all the time and even if not possible 24 hours, the efforts should be made in that direction.
Bottom line:
I personally like moderation and control, as long as it follows the guidelines and keeps flow of posting in good direction.
Oh bhai logo, I did not say moderation free. It's just that moderation will be lead by members, and not the appointed moderators, so I said moderator free.
Joke aside, have you ever tried lamb tongue soaked in olive oil? I think it was boiled and then soaked in oil when I had it in a Lebanese restaurant. Quite a different experience.

Was it when you lived in Michigan and attended WSU?
No we never had such month. I am not expecting any miracles, but relaxed atmosphere for members to post. Let’s see. It’s going to be a good learning for all of us.

I really have the feeling that there has already been a mod free month before. Just can not remember when it was. Not last year, but the year before. It was an October or a November if I am not wrong.
