Re: Fearing Hindi invasion, Bangladesh bans Hindi dubbed cartoon
English is an international language we like it or not its important for us to know it if we want to compete on the international level. The cultural onslaught is not limited to the language only. I have read articles in the newspapers where children are asking their parents when will the bride and groom take the seven pheray or when the grand father's chitta would be burnt.
I think such children exist in elite class to which Rehman Malik and likes belong who don't know even Sura e Ikhlas. middle class and poor people following some basics of religion don't face such questions. Media and Newspapers are just portraying an extreme scenario of a particular group

Cartoons should me made keeping in mind that kids pick up things from it and try to follow it.In case of Doremon I would say a Big No because it's not just hindi language but the cartoon itself. They are not appropriate for kids when there are other options available too.
ask your nephew and niece 'why don't cartoons die?' :p
Re: Fearing Hindi invasion, Bangladesh bans Hindi dubbed cartoon
well said :k: back in 80s and 90s, PTV was producing serials like Alif Laila and Ainak wala Jin to promote language and local values and at that foreign content was not that popular
Re: Fearing Hindi invasion, Bangladesh bans Hindi dubbed cartoon
then tell them what is correct and appropriate, it is not as big an issue, elders make out it to be. I always thought that "all big dhadhi waala muslims have four wives :D ", now adulthood has washed this conviction away. More they grow they will get to know of their identity and will come on track :)
There was no issue like that in my family. We prefer to watch Pakistani channels. ;) There should be limits to everything and thats the reason why regulatory authorities exist like PEMRA. Having said that I believe Pakistanis should work on dubbing cartoons to urdu as well, especially the famous channels like Pogo and Cartoon Network.

but PEMRA never made rules against foreign content and type of content shown in our dramas. Foreign content (Indian soaps, Turkey dramas) are part of Prime Time Transmission on almost all the channels

that gives me legal rights to rule them;)
Of course it does :)

Authorities should only regulate content, and remove the offensive ones for childhood. Pakistanis should translate their channels into Punjabi so that even I can make my kiddos watch your channels :)
It is very unique country the most spoken language is not most understood, most spoken in Punjabi and most understood is Urdu :) Paradoxical and Unique pakistan :)

I think the advent of Pakistani media especially in the news and entertainment (like Hum, Ary and Geo) have provided people with an alternate hence slowing the onslaught.

Thats the issue, PEMRA is not doing its job properly.

Most spoken language in pakistan is urdu not punjabi as Urdu is our national language so it's natural that people understand it.
