I’m quite a queasy person and I think I have a pretty low pain threshold.
I have anxiety about childbirth. I mean even having a blood test makes me feel faint don’t know how I would deal with the pain and possibility of tearing down there.
I know everyone must feel fear to some extent but has anyone had real anxiety about it?
Re: Fear of childbirth
I did. In the beginning of my pregnancy, every blood test was a dreaded ordeal.
By the end of it, I could tell you which arm had the juiciest veins and could talk right through it. ![]()
As for delivery…yes the pain is like nothing you will ever experience but its not THAT bad and so is the miracle of birth. You have to keep your eye on the prize and understand that anything worth having is worth fighting for. And this is definitely worth every bit of the pain you will go through. Allah swt washes away your minor sins and you are born again with your baby in a way.
Also…the weirdest thing about childbirth (at least for me) is that once you have that baby…the pain becomes a very distant memory quickly and soon forgotten. Its hard to explain but you’ll see.
Think positive…think about your baby.
Re: Fear of childbirth
^ Couldn't agree more, Reha.
Also, OP - there are great pain relief options today. I took an epidural and was actually napping till it was time to push. Check with your Ob/Gyn - it will put your mind at ease.
Re: Fear of childbirth
I was at especially with my very 1st one; but then what made me dread more was the vaginal exam (to check dilation) performed by the OB right before the childbirth; Lets just say ‘I was literally ripped’ with a pool of blood and my husband in a horrified state started to clean the blood off me
…But then came the c-section. The rest is history.
What I am trying to say is; Its normal to have such fears, do look into pain managing options for delivery (nothing wrong with that)
In words of my mom’s friend ‘Yeh duniya aisay hi bane hai’ ![]()
Re: Fear of childbirth
Yes! Another great thing about modern medicine...lots of pain relief options are available!
Re: Fear of childbirth
one word = epidural
Re: Fear of childbirth
Ummm, not essentially the worse pain that could ever happen to you. I have had an appendectomy and a cyst operation at the same time and before those were diagnosed I went through the worse abdominal pain. After that I had spinal surgery. Before the surgery, I had awful pain.
Just think, women have been going through child birth for centuries. There must gave been wimps bigger than you in this world, right? If they could go through it, so can you! IA all will be fine. Two of my friends went for elective c sections because of the fear of child birth.
Re: Fear of childbirth
Thanks Alls
sometimes I feel like there can't be a bigger wimp then me Eg recently had to have a swab test down there to test for thrush and omg I was in so much pain when doctor was doing that I was screaming!
Re: Fear of childbirth
I hated the pelvic exams more than the actual births myself and still do. BTW I have 2 children. Once you have the epidural, you won't feel the pelvic exams either.

Re: Fear of childbirth
The main thing is to communicate with your doctors! Let your OB and anesthesiologist know about your fears and anxiety, and they can give you meds to deal with the physical pain AND lessen the psychological anxiety.

The pain is pretty bad though so you're definitely not a wimp lol.

Re: Fear of childbirth
Okay not bad enough to not have a babayyyy!
Once you get past it…its amazing holding your baby!
I will never ever forget that moment when I held my Deen for the first time.
Re: Fear of childbirth
^How about you give me gol-gappu Deen…muft main…and then you go have baby # 2 since you like labor pains and needles more than I do. ![]()
Re: Fear of childbirth
Reha is actually right. I have heard it too.
I am not discrediting labor pain, but if this pain is horrible then we would see decline in world’s population. Reason is the nature of motherhood find joy in having and holding baby.
Re: Fear of childbirth
And rob you of that moment? Neverrrr!!! ![]()
