Fear Factor

Do you go through sleepless nights worrying about what if someone ever happens to your kid, how will you ever live. Is it a normal fear?

Re: Fear Factor

I do but for my parents ,siblings and friends .

Re: Fear Factor

I guess it is normal to a certain extent but having more fear than faith is a negative trait that a parent should remove as much as possible.

Re: Fear Factor

whats that quote? having a child is making the decision to have ur heart walking outside ur body…

I remember reading an article last year–a woman said that if anything happened to her children, she could go on with her life, but if her husband were to die, she would fall apart…

edit: here we go

Very sad…

I do think about that sometimes, perhaps its normal. But to have sleepless nights is definetly not normal. It will inhibit you and you will lose out on quality time with the children.

This may be off-topic...sorry...but what I do feel scared about is the fact that our children are so reliant on us and vulnerable to us. The decisions we make for them maps out their future. Even when we decide to take them to a certain doc...decide on a particular form of treatment as opposed to another one...decide on their schools etc. All this they accept without question. Not losing sleep over it, but I guess I am pretty much aware of it sometimes....I think about it a lot. Does anyone else face similar fears? Do you get overwhelmed sometimes?

I guess as Niksik pointed out we should have more faith than fear.

Re: Fear Factor

yes its a paralyzing fear but i fear the opposite more...what will happen to my kids if something happens to me, to leave them unguarded and vulnerable in this big cruel world.

Re: Fear Factor

I guess thats the downside of love :hinna: … This fear remains not just for kids .. but i think when one is younger , the siblings and parents are the core focus of this fear, then you get married and the hubby is added in the list to fear for .. and finally the kids and the cycle is never ending:no:

It shouldnt take over our lives though… life and death is part of our faith …Like nikki said … We should keep reminding ourselves that if anything does happen God forbid , then its a test from Allah for us and pray that we are never put in the situation inshallah.

Re: Fear Factor

My mom is having sleepless nights since long now. she thinks tooooooooo much about us.

Re: Fear Factor

Once at eid , I had gone home to my parents and dad decided to give us and the friends family a ride on the speed boat … we kids got ultra excited and hopped on here and there on the boat … suddenly my mom came running after us on to the boat and said she will go with us … I was like “mom you will get the chakker and all , nai aain” … and she said , no , if anything happens to any of you , or if any of you falls of the boat, i wouldnt want to live either" :omg:

We still laugh about it :omg:
