I think GS is at a point now that there should be a section where links to Frequently Discussed Topics should be posted. You know what I mean ?
Like : How do I tell someone I love them ?

Why eating KFC in West is not Halal or similar topics ?

hmmm .. if this is a serious suggestion and not some mirch style tanz, then i am gona say that LC pointed out that we should reintroduce tags or taxonomy in a bit more controlled fashion. under consideration.

It is Mirch Style Tanz but Tanz is not on GS but members who keep posting such topics.

It is not posters fault. The new member When they discover GS they think since these kinds of things are taboo in desi households so they can start a controversy by bringing these topic up and wham , bam they will be popular overnight. But they find it the hard way that someone has already been there , done that.
So now what we do ? We should come up with a sticky ,may be ,in each forum telling new members to search the forums before posting a new topic . Or we should have a FDT link as a sticky at the top of each forum.
This kind of thing will not result in annoyance of old members and will save new members the embarrassment.

We usually merge threads that are very similar. I know sometimes we overlook but usually they are merged or closed with a PM to the thread starter posting the link to a similar topic.

We should have frequently used topics as a list of 'search' items in a column, bar or in a sticky thread. It may say: "Before you post" ...Defnitely include MIL and DIL :)
