FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

LOL no wonder America is known as the land of the obese!

In its latest salvo against our health and freedom, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning to Diamond Foods stating that their claims for the health promoting qualities of walnuts have moved them from a food to a drug. At the same time, it allows Frito-Lay to advertise its health-destroying chips (crisps in the UK) as “heart healthy”.
This is an attack on both your health and your right to free speech. The FDA is not interested in the science. It’s not interested in your health. It’s not interested in the truth. It’s interested only in supporting its corporate masters. To this end, it uses its massive power to shut down the truth and ignore blatant lies when it’s beneficial to big corporate players.

FDA says:

Based on claims made on your firm’s website, we have determined that your walnut products are promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs because these products are intended for use in the prevention, mitigation, and treatment of disease. The following are examples of the claims made on your firm’s website under the heading of a web page stating “OMEGA-3s … Every time you munch a few walnuts, you’re doing your body a big favor.”:

• “Studies indicate that the omega-3 fatty acids found in walnuts may help lower cholesterol; protect against heart disease, stroke and some cancers; ease arthritis and other inflammatory diseases; and even fight depression and other mental illnesses.”

• "[O]mega-3 fatty acids inhibit the tumor growth that is promoted by the acids found in other fats … "

• “*n treating major depression, for example, omega-3s seem to work by making it easier for brain cell receptors to process mood-related signals from neighboring neurons.” • “The omega-3s found in fish oil are thought to be responsible for the significantly lower incidence of breast cancer in Japanese women as compared to women in the United States.”

Because of these intended uses, your walnut products are drugs Presto ChangeOh! The FDA has magically transformed walnuts into a drug. Neat trick if you can pull it off—and at this point, they can. The FDA has sent out hundreds of these extortionate letters to food producers big and small.

FDA Says Walnuts Are Drugs and Doritos Are Heart Healthy

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

amused to see you pull stories from a site dedicated to Gaia :)

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

The Gaia hypothesis or Gaia principle is an ecological hypothesis proposing that the biosphere and the physical components of the Earth (atmosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere) are closely integrated to form a complex interacting system that maintains the climatic and biogeochemical conditions on Earth in a preferred homeostasis.

or

Gaia the Guppan? :rotfl:

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

x2 your watching too much fox news

the wikipedia Gaia principle is not what this site is about..

it should be "you are" not "your"

and no I am not :)

I am surprised you holy people do not know about this Gaia stuff.

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

Walnut is a drug? By that reasoning water too is a drug.

Which makes even more sense now, albeit ironic, since traces of prescription meds around being found in drinking water.

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

Amusing. Doritos healthy :hmmm:

so when you are moving back to Afghanistan and start using the real Drug Authority ?

once you go join the US Army, I will be there to accompany you

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

^ too bad i am already part of it... so now?

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

guys, please read up the reasons and rationale.
FDA is not perfect by any means, but read up a little.

the issue is with manufacturers touting their products as having specific health benefits, they can have something that says these statements have not been approved by FDA

what they are trying to stop is companies selling different things making health claims and people falling for it.

as far as doritos go, they fall under a different set of guidelines where if you are adding whole grain you can say it is healhier for you , if doritos had made claims that they have omega 3 or what nots and its good for you and prevents heart disease, they would get the same letter from FDA.

now stop jumping up and down at a post designed for CP t post something anti US, even if he had to use info provided by a pagan group ;) and read and figure this out.

packaged food and products labelling is a huge issue, and FDA is trying to make sure that consumers are protected and that the manufacturers are not making claims that are untrue, the limitations are that there are always other ways for manufacturers to say something, whether it is diet, good for you, wholesome, made with whole grain (does not mean its 100% whole grain) the companies try to make statements which they think will appeal to buyers, and FDA steps in where it gets out of hand.

once your shipped. :k:

why is it such a crime to interract with non holy people

besides your only pushing me into a stereotype(gained from fox news) because i say no to WOT. for this you should study into whats become apparant atleast about iraq. it was a wholesale murder for nothing. even good non-muslim people stand on the same principle as me in condemning that war. i know if you watch too much fox news you can become abit too not bovered to complain, but its a worthy complaint. for men of integrity, you know

had I even spoken to you before you made that watching too much fox news statement?
so who is pushing who into a stereotype? and assuming that I have some view about you and assuming that I have that view of you based on fox news.

I am not going to address the rest of the war and whinging rant because that has zilch to do with this thread. open a new one on that topic.

PS: "you are" and not "your"

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

lol.. a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.. esp for taliban supporters.

What the FDA is saying here, and also in the case of cheerios too is that if you are marketing your products as being “heart healthy” or making claims that your product will lower cholesterol etc, then your product must be scrutinized by the FDA and meet its approval for labeling in that manner - same as drugs that claim such benefits. And until then it must be pulled from grocery aisles, or remove any labeling that indicates such benefits.

And not that these products are really drugs that do these things the manufacturer claims. Capiche?

Please stop being the donkey of the devil in spreading falsehoods, cricketplaza. :nono1:

Re: FDA says Walnuts are Drugs and Doritos are Heart Healthy

not me but at cp you did, we all know what you were getting at hence fox news was most app

no, I just asked CP to check his sources..
and you do not know my intentions..I have clearly noted that had he known about gaia and the pagan gaia movement and its philosophy he would know why they are saying what they are saying and think about it a little.

now please focus on the discussion at hand.
