All colleges are great and have teachers it only depend upon student study..with tution culture all come down to same level..though being an ex-Aitchisonian it doesnt come in this category as its basically a school and some go for A-levels and some Fsc. and there are few in each one.. though some Aitchisinians have done great even in Fsc by topping board so many times..

thanx degdas well this guy is moving to pak and he has been living here in canada for past 7 yrz. he wasnt really sure which college would be the best at this stage.
thats wot i heard all three of them r good and have good reputation but again which one do u think would suite a guy who lived for 7 years in canada and never visited pak during that time?
your response or any other guppie's will be greatly appreciated.
When I was in Lahore... basically there was no comparison between GC and FC... If scoring good marks is your priority than FC lost its grandeur a long time ago. All top students would go to GC and consequently GC would score the bestest results in FSc. In my time (early 90's) all three positions in Pre-Engg, Pre-Med and FA would be with GC guys and only rarely one or two other colleges would squeeze in, probably in FA results.
Aitchison, as Degas mentioned is a different category. They are primarily famous for their O-Level and A-Level. And to have a back-up for not-so-bright students, they maintain an FSc/FA section as well.
Another good college would be Crescent College (its part of the school in Shadman). Islamia college and Govt Science College also used be part of the list.... but if you are looking for the best, then GC is probably the answer.

thanx faisal. well most ppl have said the same about GC. wot do u think is better thouhg? doing pre-eng Fsc/FA at GC or instead go to Aitchison and go for O/A levels?
It only depends upon the student what line he wants to pursue.. if he wants to join engineering univ in pak..GC and FC would be the ideal choice.. and why he wants to go Pak just for Pre-Eng? GC and FC college have lately become same after privitization since many students prefer it to GC now..

no actually his family is moving back to pak so he has no other option. ya i guess GC would be the top choice.
how about for Bsc in maths ? GC good enough?
The decision of doing FSc or A-Levels is important. I always believe that if a student has done O-Levels or any other non-Pakistani schooling (American system or what not) and also plans to go to a foreign university for further education then there is no point in doing FSc. Just go for A-Levels and stay away from Pakistani qualifications altogether.
On the other hand, if someone wants to pursue higher education in Pakistan (Engineering, medical etc) than FSc will make it easier to get into those institutions as FSc students have more seats and as long as you scored enough marks, it can be pretty automatic.
If the guy has not yet decided what he wants to do in the future, and may or may not pursue higher education in a foreign university (US, Europe etc) than it will be better to stick with A-Level just to keep the options open.
Then again, getting admission into Aitchison college or Lahore Grammer School (A-Levels) is not that easy either.
BSc Maths? Well.. the dude needs to decide what he wants to do in life. BSc Maths is typically done by those who either want to do Masters in Maths or Economics; or those who just need more time to figure out what they want to do in life. GC is/was quite good for that, but for Bachelors, I would say no particular college is far different. I don't know recently, but in my time, the top positions were pretty much all over the place.
ps, Degas, I dunno if now GC and FC are considered at par. May be. I dunno. I have been out too long.
thanx faisal
Rehaan,
I’m in concurrence with Faisal in his advice to your friend… this should be the decision criteria for choosing between FSc. and A-Levels.
I did my A-Levels in Lahore from a private institute which at the time was very small and it has notably grown in the past years… if your friend is going to consider A-Levels at a private school, check out:
Ciao.
He taught at Crescent for a decade before being hijacked by kims. But man! Does he know his chemistry. Prestige aside, if you want to get good grades in A Levels, go to KIMS. They have a cutthroat policy of buying out every good teacher in Lahore.
Rehaan,
I agree with Faisal that GC is probably the best still, however, i will strongly consider Crescent College.... U can say that I am biased because I completed all 12 grades there. It used to be one of the best schools for Matriculation. I was in the second batch of the college class. Do check them out, and if you see Hashmi Sahib... tell him Kaleem Khawaja said Salaam....:)
Another Chemistry guru Rana Rasheed from GC Lahore- one of my favorite tutors :k: I second Kaleem’s notion, Crescent has great academic environment, place where I did my F Sc.
are you from Crescent?
and
At Nasim Butt’s description. Funniest class I have ever attended! Totally chaotic I tell you!
