It’s been rumored that it may even be bigger than “Cats”.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Al Qaeda may be planning “spectacular attacks” in the United States that will cause “mass casualties” and “severe damage” to the economy, according to a federal law enforcement bulletin.
Even so, the warnings have not caused the Homeland Security threat level to be increased from yellow, or elevated risk, and FBI officials said there is no new intelligence that led to the strong wording of the bulletin.
The bulletin, issued Thursday by the FBI in its weekly law enforcement alert, stems from the release of the audiotape that is believed to contain Osama bin Laden’s voice added to earlier intelligence reports.
That audiotape, along with previous intelligence and a “resurgence of al Qaeda operational activity” has spurred law enforcement to review the manner in which al Qaeda is operating.
Yesterday the FBI got a berating from White House on unnecessarily alarming the people for sending warnings to hospitals in four cities.
FBI will do well to participate in inter-agency cooperation and don't run away with every wild statement coming out of Guantanamo Bay or newly arrested low-level operatives. The whole of 2002 is full of vague warnings and idle threats, which do little to reassure the jittery public and only cast doubt on the credibility of these agencies. This trent tends to make people numb on such issues which can prove deadly if at any point, there is indeed a real threat.
The Bali attack, the French Tanker were almost certainly Al Qaeda attacks, logically they are building up to another massacre of innocent Americans civilians in the name of Allah and then will justfy it as part of a global Jihad against "The evil American crusaders" who aim to "have imperial dominance" over the muslims.
They fail to see that they merely make it worse with such imflammatory remarks.
