Fazlur Rehman urges Afghanistan to recognise Durand Line

Quite a significant statement from an ostensibly Pashtun leader like him, and one who formerly supported the Taliban movement.

Fazl urges Afghanistan to recognise Durand Line

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that India’s “extraordinary activities” in Afghanistan are a threat for Pakistan’s western borders and urged Afghanistan to recognise the Durand Line and resolve the dispute over the issue between the neighbouring Muslim states. He said that confidence-building measures (CBMs) between Pakistan and India were entirely in favour of the latter which wanted to keep the Kashmir issue in cold storage.

Re: Fazlur Rehman urges Afghanistan to recognise Durand Line

Yes, it could also be part of his upcoming deal with the government whereby he is shedding his previously extremist image i.e support for the Taliban, and re-inventing himself more in the mainstream. But is a welcome move nevertheless.
