fair enough. mullah Fazlu’s escape might be a conspiracy theory… or at least there is no proof though Nusrat Javed is a very credible and responsible journalist and he doesn’t make claims out of thin air.
the question arises… why have there been no trials of those that have been arrested? Muslim Khan and Sufi are supposed to be under arrest. where are the trials? where are the punishments?
and in retrospect I find it very interesting that an army that often takes over the whole country when it perceives the country to be heading in the wrong direction (or if its boss’s job is under threat) sat by quietly as the taliban took over a part of Pakistan - not just any part. but Swat - the crown jewel of Pakistan’s tourism. there was not a peep out of the army for so long in which time first Musharraf’s govt and then the PPP’s govt bumbled and stumbled its way… until FINALLY it was decided to go after people who had practically taken over a part of Pakistan? where was the army’s patriotism then? the triple one brigade is ever ready to unleash its patriotism on elected prime ministers. why did the same army stand by for so long while a full and bloody rebellion against the state unfolded in a very important and well known part of Pakistan?
I have nothing but respect for the shuhada who were martyred in the operations who we owe tremendous respect and gratitude. but overall the army’s policy against the militants is still as clear as mud.
