Fazl offers mediation between govt, militants

With today’s brazen attack on the heart of Pakistani military establishment … is it time to listen to voices within Pakistan and try to settle this issue ?? If sharia is an issue for these “emotional elements.” then perhaps everyone should take a step back and try to settle the issue through negotiated settlement. There are people within Pakistan who can perhaps bring this cycle of voilence to an end … if military action has not been succesfull so far, then perhaps some kind of peace deal can be worked out to end this violence.

Monday, October 05, 2009PESHAWAR: Offering mediation between the government and the Taliban militants, the chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rahman, said on Sunday that if his peace overture was turned down, the government’s intentions would stand exposed.

Speaking at the final session of the two-day ‘Tahaffuz-e-Madaris Wa Masajid Conference’ here, he said all issues should be resolved through negotiations, asking the government to avoid the use of force.

Thousands of religious scholars, prayer leaders, teachers, students of seminaries and the JUI parliamentarians attended the conference.“For the promulgation of Shariah in the country, we believe in peaceful struggle and will convince the emotional elements such as the militants to follow the same principles,” he said.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman said if the Islamic system was introduced through parliament, those waging an armed struggle for the imposition of Shariah would have no excuse to pick up arms. He said the government had assured them that legislation would be done according to the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII). He hinted at quitting the coalition government if the government failed to legislate in line with the CII recommendations. “We will rethink our support to the federal government,” he warned.

Criticising the United States, the JUI-F leader said that America started an unjust war in Afghanistan in 2001 on the pretext of terrorism. “We had denounced the war at that time and even now we do not accept the plea of the Americans,” he said.

He also criticised the Awami National Party (ANP)-Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) provincial government, saying the announcement about the promulgation of Shariah laws in Malakand was a drama. He said the people of Swat had launched the struggle for Shariah while the government signed a deal with Sufi Muhammad, who belonged to Dir Lower.

He alleged that the ANP leaders had deviated from the philosophy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, a torchbearer of non-violence. “The ANP had promised during the election campaign that it would provide peace to the people, but instead it rained bombs on them,” he alleged.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman alleged extra-judicial killings and human right violations during the military operation in Swat and other parts of the province. Later, a joint declaration was also issued that announced not to support the elements active in the armed struggle for the imposition of Shariah and instead take course of peaceful means for the purpose.

The declaration, read by Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan, demanded of the government to establish an independent judicial commission to probe the alleged extrajudicial killings of clerics by security forces.

Re: Fazl offers mediation between govt, militants

Are you flaming crazy???

That's exactly what the extremists want - they want us to get fed up with the attacks and say "here ya go, here's the country".

Guess what? Just because you're some self-proclaimed jaahil maulvi and you read your namaazein 5x a day and bomb innocents and go after a MUSLIM sovereign nation's ARMY HEADQUARTERS, doesn't make you remotely fit to govern a country.

And I'm fairly certain Pakistanis don't want these dummies running the country either.

:k:

Pakistan has already had two of three “peace deals” with jihadists. Guess what happened each time? The jihadists would use the respite to rebuild their capabilities and then renege and resume terror. We–meaning the entire civilized world–need to realize they will not stop until they have shariah in place around the globe. Their short-term goals are to topple key Muslim countries (Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Indonesia) while retaking Afghanistan. Next they want to take over other Muslim states. Finally when the caliphate is restored they will return to fighting “the kafirs” and continue the fight until either all the jihadists are dead or until the entire world is under shariah. Sound alarmist? Read the Islamists yourself. They all seek global domination via offensive jihad. In particular read Qutb’s Milestones, the most influential book to jihadists or Pakistan’s Mawdudi (probably the second most influential Islamist and certainly one of the big 3 along with Khomenini), the godfather of Pakistani Islamists. Mawdudi once eerily said:

How eerie is that statement! Moscow has suffered terrorism since the collapse of the USSR and jihadists inspired by the ideology Mawdudi was the de facto co-founder of, just as Marx and Engels founded Communism, attacked Washington and New York. There can be negotiation, no peace with such an ideology just as there could have been no peace with its racialist ancestor Nazism.

Re: Fazl offers mediation between govt, militants

Here's the thing. Islam offers an interesting political/economic system. You see it being implemented in micro-economics systems as such established by M. Yusuf of Bangladesh.

Islam does not condone using bullying, and bombing, and loss of innocent lives and terrorizing to take over power.

These idiots are bloodthirst and power greedy people. They can carry a Quran in their hands, but they ain't fooling me.

Re: Fazl offers mediation between govt, militants

I agree. They use Islam for fascist political purposes just as the Nazi's use German nationalism for fascists political purposes. Notice how all these guys who talk about how great dying in "jihad" is never put themselves in harm's way or do a suicide bombing themselves? If Bin Laden believes dying is so great why doesn't he stop hiding in a cave and show his face so he can get a Hellfire missile shoved down his throat?

When Mawdudi had cancer guess where that hypocrite want for medical treatment! Yes: America! Why didn't he go to a land of shariah like Saudi Arabia and get treated by Muslim doctors? When it came time to save his life he turned to the so-called "kuffar." Wait, there is more. He went to New York state. A significant percentage of New York doctors are Jewish. So there is a strong possibility that when he was trying to save his life he turned to an American Jewish doctor!

Just a note ..... M. Yusuf's Grameen bank has got nothing to do with Islamic political/economic system. Unless charging interest of upto 20% is considered Islamic.

Having said that, let me add that i regard his contribution very highly and if this south asian region were to get a couple of role models like him , it would be a better place.

Re: Fazl offers mediation between govt, militants

Molana Fazl Ur Rehman urf Molana Hub-e-Iqtaidar, is doing what ever he can to stay in news, after being ignored by PPPP ( his allies) and rejected by the masses in NWFP, he is trying to offer his services every now and then, i guess the main intention is to get attention from Western forces who are seeking for a broker to get a peace deal between them and Taliban of Afghanistan.

The attack on GHQ is the limit, Pakistan Army should attack with full force on the terrorist head-quarters in Waziristan and their training camps in Afghanistan, in mean-time Pakistan should produce evidences against foreign powers who are funding and training these terrorists, no one can say that these terrorists are getting their funds and weapons from SKY, nor these things can be grown.

Re: Fazl offers mediation between govt, militants

Just kill the *******. That way we won't have to hear about him ever again.

The attackers were from Punjab. Don’t you think it is high time for the army to clear its own mess first before moving to Waziristan?

Bloody siege at Pakistan army HQ ends with 20 dead - Yahoo! News

**A police intelligence report obtained by The Associated Press on Saturday had warned in July that members of the Taliban along with Jaish-e-Mohammed, a militant group based in the country’s Punjab province, were planning to attack army headquarters after disguising themselves as soldiers. The report was given to the AP by an official in the home affairs ministry in Punjab’s home department. **

Hang this Mullah aka Maulvi diesel.

Sadly the elements corrupting our religion are the new "so called mediators".

The best decision you ever made in ur life was to move out of that Govt job & Pakistan… your replies seconds my above statement…

May i ask which Area of Punjab should be targeted? Where in Punjab we have Swat or Wazirstan like Situation? Whereas all the terrorist attack so far have their strings leading to Wazirstan…

These Jaish & SSP can be tackled once their boss, the TTP is defeated up in the north, i hope you understand this

Read my post again. I said army has to clear its internal mess then proceed what they want to do. Read the statement of Azam Tariq. This should be the starting cleanup strategy by the military. The statement has proved that Punjab is the breeder of terrorists’ province as accepted by TTP spokes person.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/as_pakistan

Taliban spokesman Azam Tariq called The Associated Press and said the weekend assault on army headquarters, which left 20 people dead, was only the first in a planned wave of strikes intended to avenge the killing of Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud in a CIA missile strike in August.

“This was our first small effort and a present to the Pakistani and American governments,” he said.

He said the raid on army headquarters was carried out by a Punjabi faction of the militant group and it had given orders to other militant branches in Sindh, Baluchistan and the Northwest Frontier Province to launch similar operations.

Read the full sentence. So TTP seems to have it's roots everywhere although I agree about the origins of JeM and LET. Both groups are confined to Southern Punjab only
