Fazal Mahmood

Just noticed that a player of the caliber of Fazal Mahmood was never given the same importance as a fast bowler by Pakistanis as Wasim, Waqar, and Imran. Literally, he single handedly won Pakistan matches at a time when Pakistan only had one world class batsman in Hanif Mohammad to score runs and Pakistan was the newest test playing nation.

Nothing to take away from the accomplishments of Imran, Wasim and Waqar, but Fazal had to counter some of the great batsmen of the 1950s like Len Hutton, Dennis Compton, Gary Sobers, 3Ws from West Indies, Sutcliffe, Neil Harvey while Wasim and Waqar’s era had fewer great batsmen like Tendulkar, Lara, Waugh and Imran had to counter only a handful of legends like Gavaskar and Richards.
While Wasim, Waqar, and Imran always had great supporting cast in each other and guys like Sarfaraz Nawaz, Aqib Javed, Abdul Qadir, Saqlain and Shoaib, on the otherhand, Fazal Mahmood was mostly a one man army.

What do you guys think?

Re: Fazal Mahmood

Fazal Mehmood was another cricket legend for Pakistan, no body can undermine or ignore his services for the cricket team and bringing Pakistan's name in the cricket playing nations.

As long as their is cricket history is Pakistan, his name will be remembered, yes i cannot guarantee that for the PCB officials...
