[FONT=Times New Roman]Sindh High Court’s PCOed Chief Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro has sent a Reference of misconduct against their senior most justice Azizullah M. Memon. The copies of reference, as per newspapers, were also faxed to the offices of a select few television stations. What was the so bad need of sending the Reference copies to the Media? At one hand the PCOed Chief Justice of Sarkaree Supreme Court takes it as contempt if a television gives a news about the Court. Does by sending these copies to the media the CJ SHC not want to defame “with utmost” speed one of his own colleague and thus technically himself wishing to defame the judiciary. The media itself was soon to “smell” the news about this Reference, they why a need for the Court to ensure this news reaches maximum earlier possible as a “breaking news”. As a matter of tradition if however this really an emergent matter then as is practice the SHC should had issued an official press release. Faxing of “copies” of whole reference is nothing but sure with some other motive which is not surprising seeing how cases like insulting Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Choudhry by police, suo moto notice against Islamabad Police, cases against Zardari, release of cars of Rehman Malik how swiftuly in hours are being decided including in a Punjabi film fashion like eviction of house of Justice Remday. I was rightly expecting despite knowing it would never happen that if Iftikhar Choudhry was really dishonest in submitting fake patrol receipts, then the Chief Justice of PCOed Supreme Court would initiate action against the Quetta Patrol Pump which only deals with Diesel but issued bogus receipts to Iftikhar Choudhary and some other senior bureaucrats and judges (against whom reference was not filed).
