I have never understood Fawad Alam’s place in T20 team. He has been in the team for so long - but is rarely used as a bowler and when he bats Pakistan have already lost the match.. he is nor an exceptional bowler nor a explosive batsman to fit in T20s..
Pak team should had included Mohammad Asif in teh last match against Aus.. he might had been useful or should had brought explosive batsmen: Shahzeb or Imran Nazir in place of Fawad Alam..

I totally agree with that. Fawad Alam is such a talented player but totally ignored for unknown reasons. Pakistan can benefit a lot if he's played at a better position both in batting line as well as bowling.
I agree with Fawad's talent. He is being wasted in the squad at No.7. He needs to be given more time up the order to prove his worth in the team. He hardly gets to bat, and when he does Pakistan are close to losing that match and he cant do much in the situation.

Misbah has been a failure IMO, I'd replace Misbah's spot for Fawad and add a bowler.

What are you talking about? He was the highest scorer in this match, and against Bangladesh he came to bat late and remained not-out.

Yes he was highest score in this match, if you followed his innings in last many games this one was probably one of the good ones. I was supporter of Misbah for long time just like I was supporter of Shoaib Malik for long time. But he is not a finisher. Lets not count batting against BD as it was too short and even Salman Butt scored 73 of 46 balls.

If fawad had been given chances from begining he may have converted to a real asset. but he is never given enough bowling chances. He may have developed better than amir sohail in bowling and give some stability in late order.
Now he dont have any place as he will not be given bowling so either hafeez or fawad. Asif must return to team

But we have to stick with him for now since we do not have any brighter options at the moment. Sami should make way for Asif

What do you mean "given chances from beginning"? He's been in the team for the past couple of years and is doing fine. Do you think he should've been inducted in the senior team right after his first class debut?

Strange its coming from you. Fawad is a very under-rated player. Yes, you do need halwa bowling in certain conditions. His batting is superb, no question about it. He is dropped every now and then otherwise we can see him playing much better if he is given a continuous chance like misbah or salman butt.

I used to be critical of Fawad because I would just go by stat sheets but when I saw his batting it totally changed my mind. He is a solid batsman with a sound technique. He is in a team as a damage control , who would not throw away his wicket easily and can rotate the strike by taking quick singles and doubles while keeping a very healthy strike rate. We should promote him to number 3 because down the order he is not really effective. We started to rely too much on these so called big hitters and which I think is hurting our team.

He can be at no 3 while butt can be replaced by hafiz or some one else. I dont agree to have butt in the team as even he scores 50 he give away 20 - 25 runs in field and if fawad makes 20 -25 and saves 10- 12 runs net effect is better then butt.
Also he msut be given some overs so that if hafeez is getting hit he can be replaced.

Fawad may be a good choice in one dayers, nudging the ball around, but, he is not a natural stroke player Nazir or Akmal. He isnt fit for 20/20. And i dont understand why Asif is not playing.

^ you do need a 'nudger' or two for the middle overs even in the T20 format.
As for Asif; he was holded back for the 2nd round stage. Sami will make way for him from now onwards in the tournament (provided we do progress!)

really don't have an opinion on Fawad Alam, except that he's a heck of a fielder, and that he hasn't really been utilized in an optimal capacity just yet. He always comes way down the order where it's illogical to expect him to play sensibly while batting with the tail - especially since most of the time, our team around that time is really struggling to make runs at RR of 10+. He needs to come 3rd of 4th down and be given a few games at that spot to get a real sense of what he's capable of.
