Indeed, "Kill em All" is one of my favorite Metallica albums. That album was the first thrash album to get signed to a major label, back in 1983.
'Kill em all' is all about the raw power of metal guitar. Like you make a riff without any concern at all about what the listener or the recording company would think about it. Or like say, a demon is handed a guitar for the first time and it just goes and rips it apart :D
I heard their early influence was a band called 'Diamond Head'. Haven't heard a lot of their stuff

Indeed. Diamond Head was a very big influence on them, as was Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Motorhead. Their first album "Kill em All", original version has the Metallica version of the famous Diamond Head song "Am I Evil".
......and not to mention the band Venom was a huge influence on them. Venom were the first Thrash/Black/Death metal band to exist. Then came Celtic Frost who were also a big influence on them.

I think I might have a Diamond Head album on casette lying around here somewhere. Venom and Celtic Frost are both still around and going strong, releasing some of their heaviest music to date. I love both those bands.

I have lost respect for Ozzy recently, due to him re-recording the bass and drums for his first 3 albums (Blizzard, Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon), re-mixing them, re-releasing them last year, and passing them off as originals. That’s sacreligious.
