When traveling to Pakistan, the main reasons may include visiting relatives and/or friends, attending some sort of an important personal event, among other reasons. However, while there we have all at one point or another tried food(s) which quickly become our favorite for decades to come. Sometimes it is the food themselves, other times it may be the atmosphere, and in some occasions it is a nostalgia we carry with us because we may have visited those places in our childhood, so we yearn to relive the same experiences.
I recall a few places that I can remember the names of, so I’ll do my best to list them. I’m sure your repositories are much larger than mine in terms of places you’ve been.
City: Lahore
Market/Area: Anarkali
Shop: Chaman, for Ice Cream. I remember going there when I was little, but the memory pulls me back and I yearn to revisit. I’m not sure if the shop is still present, but I would love to go there again. Even if just for nostalgia-sake.
Market/Area:** Laxmi Chowk**
Shop: Roadside stall. It was sort of like a shop in itself. The actual place had more outdoor seating than the shop itself. It served Kashmiri/Pink Chai and pasteries. Me and my cousins had some piping hot Kashmiri Chai’s while waiting to go watch a Stage Show. ![]()
Market/Area: Do not remember the name.
Shop: **Lasani **restaurant. This was probably the first outside food I tried while there on last trip. Myself and my cousins happened to be in the area, and had lunch there. I remember Rice for sure. There were other things as well. The portions were huge. Food was fine. I may or may not return there, it didn’t leave as big of an impression as some of the other places.
Market/Area: Do not remember the name.
Shop: Bon Fire restaurant. It is/was owned by an Acquaintance. Food was really well cooked and presented. We had Grilled and BBQ Chicken with Naan, and other things I don’t recall. Will visit again as a matter of meeting, etc.
Market/Area: Do not remember the name.
Shop: I don’t remember the name of shop. It was inner Lahore, and It was soon after arrival there. Had some Khajoor Shake. Amazing stuff! Loved it. Also learned that you can have Sit-Thru food service Drinks are brought to you while you sit and wait in the car ![]()
Market/Area: Gulberg
Shop: **Veranda **restaurant. The setting and atmosphere were pleasant. I was unable to enjoy it though because of routine health reasons. I felt bad for my cousins because I felt they didn’t get to enjoy it much either because I wasn’t eating as much. ![]()
Market/Area: Link Road
Shop: Been there many times for many different things. Had Shakes a few times while shopping around.
Last but not least, and definitely the most defined food that anyone can vouch for:
Burger stall. They’re found everywhere around the city. The one of a kind burger is made while you wait. Some eggs, some patties, some buns, and a lot of appetite while watching it being prepared. Definitely on the list to try!
