Do you recall a specific field trip that you went on as a child, where you had the most fun? If so, what did you and your classmates/schoolmates do?
Favorite Field Trip
I went on a leadership training in high school. We went to a camp about 2 hours and spent 2 days their doing team building activities, swimming, kayaking, pitching tents, bbq’ing etc…still have fond memories from that trip
Re: Favorite Field Trip
i did not attend any school until grade 10 so i missed out on all the trips that school kids take.
the first trip i took was when i was doing BSc. we went on a class trip to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Lucknow (Botanical Garden, i was majoring in Botany), Allahabad/Naini Agricultural Institute.
we had lots of fun. we traveled by train, were given Rs.100 everyday for incidental expenses, we stayed in Government Lodges where we had a cook and he was indeed a good cook. we had only vegetarian food though.
i remember buying gifts to my family members with the money i got as daily stipend. a 10 day trip fetched me Rs.1000…![]()
Re: Favorite Field Trip
We used to have class picnic. Full day. Once to Vihar Lake, once to Borivili National park. Great fun. Simple times. The class teachers on both trips were really good sports.

Re: Favorite Field Trip
As an adult, going on a field trip with my students to a theme park and going on the rides esp the roller coasters was fun.
Re: Favorite Field Trip
Roller coasters. Man, won’t go near them now. Too much of agony.
Who watched the Chevy chase movie with John Candy where they forced latter to open up a theme park at gunpoint. Watched it only abt 5 times.
BoT.
Re: Favorite Field Trip
:k: Great examples! Do you remember any parents (yours or of some (other) students) attending the field trips as monitors, along with the teachers?

Re: Favorite Field Trip
My mother worked full time my entire life, so no, she was never able to volunteer or attend school trips, but for my 3 boys, I have been a chaperone on every single one of their school trip thus far (and there have been alot!).
My twins are entering 4th grade this year and will be taking a trip to the State Capitol which is about 4 hours away from our city, and I’ve already signed up to chaperone that trip as well.
It’s fun, I’ve been to some pretty neat places with my kids and their school lol.
Re: Favorite Field Trip
Do they like you being there?
I had a trip but not really a trip as an adult. Childhood was pretty boring. Anyways I was heading back home from school and there was a huge snow storm on route 30. Roads weren’t plowed or salted so I had to spend the entire night in the car. I had one of those folding chair in car which I pulled out and people from other car had tea/coffee we shared and stuff until the roads cleared off in morning
Re: Favorite Field Trip
They love it! This past year, we had some hurt feelings because a few of my eldest son’s 5th grade end of year activities overlapped with the twins’ field trips and I was out of town on another occasion for the elder one, so I had to miss out…there were some pouty faces and clandestine tears lol
With The Boy starting middle school next month, I’ll be transitioning to band mom/Booster Club with him…2 separate school campuses to navigate now! #caniclonemyself](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=caniclonemyself)
Re: Favorite Field Trip
In 2nd grade we took a field trip to my teacher’s house. She put on a movie for us and had made apple cider (cookies too, I think). For lunch her husband grilled burgers and hot dogs and we ate in her patio. She also had lil’ gifts for us…and one of the things we got was a cute koala bear pencil-hugger. It was a fun day and it’s a shame that an expensive perfume was stolen from her home. Sucks when someone taints a memory like that. ![]()
Re: Favorite Field Trip
In elementary -Went ‘panning for gold’ in one of the original Gold rush mining locations, the museum folks even put in small speckles of gold rocks for us to find ![]()
Oh not really a field trip but I remember our 4th grade teacher would pick 4 kids (based on how many books we read that month) and take us out to Baskin Robbin’s during lunch…in her car…with no permission slips
Not sure if that was allowed but I loved those trips
