Fave singer

Whats your favorite singer of all time, mines mohd rafi, there is no other singer like him, the quality of his voice, the way he sings from sad to happy songs and the range of his voice are unamtched.

Nowadays i hardly listen to modern hindi music, the male singers dont have the vocal quality that rafi has, Even lata states that there never be a singer like rafi for a 100 yrs, so question whats your fave singer ??

Re: Fave singer

Mehdi Hassan/Ahmed Rushdie/NFAK among the older lot and the Jahanzeb dude in the new one. Currently I'm totally hooked to Faakhir. They all rock. Just wondering, is there any such thing as hindi music?

Re: Fave singer

rafi sahab was definatly one of the best we have got...........

but modren singer like sonu ,shaan ,kunal ganjawala , sukwinder are also some of the jems we have...........

spacially sonu nigam........he is the guru .

Re: Fave singer

Rafi would be at the top. Kishore and Mukesh are not far behind. Amongs some of the new ones I think Junoon is pretty good and so is Adnan Sami Khan.

Re: Fave singer

Defenitly Sonu Nigam.. Adnan Sami Khan is also very good.. :)

Re: Fave singer

I luv Mohammad Rafi's singing, Kishor Kumar, Mehdi Hassan, Ali Zafar, Shabnam majeed, abrar, and others.

  • naeem abass rufi -

ha ha ha ha ha ha

Re: Fave singer

^^ The guy can actually sing pretty decently!

Re: Fave singer

In terms of voice, vocal range, moodiness, and creativity the best are: Alison Goldfrapp, Beth Gibbons, Bjork, Thom Yorke, Tori Amos (early part of her career), and Maynard Keenan.

Re: Fave singer

^ who are those people ? OKay so I have heard of Tori Amos but couldnt even think of a song by her right off.

Re: Fave singer

I like Goldfrapp’s “Strict Machine”. I’ll add to your list with Lisa Gerard from Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twin’s Liz Frasier, Sinead O’Connor, Siouxie Sioux, Tracyanne Campbell from Camera Obscura, Nico from Velvet Underground, Patsy Cline, I’m still thinking.

Male singers Chet Baker, Ogre from Skinny Puppy, Kurt Cobain, Johny Cash.

Re: Fave singer

What...? Nobody said Lata.

Re: Fave singer

Saima, forget Strict Machine! Listen to everything from Felt Mountaim (the album). So moody, dark, like something from a bygone cigar, bar, rain, spy-movie noir, baroque era. Alison Goldfrapp sounds different in every song. Beth Gibbons (Portishead) is like that, voice morphing from song to song. She sounds maniacal and obsessive in "All Mine" and deliciously vengeful and murderous in "Seven Months". Her solo efforts are very good too, her vocals very fragile. Liz Frasier is good, I've never seen somebody sing that high a note, she sounds like she belongs in some church choir. I like Siren Song.

I am not sure I would call Kurt Cobain and the Skinny Puppy guy good singers... They can only seem to emote at one level. Paul Weller is good in terms of male singers, Peter Gabriel too.

The singer from Morcheeba... smooth, rich voice.

Re: Fave singer

I personally think Asha has a better voice than Lata.

Re: Fave singer

shonu ofcourse!

Re: Fave singer

Re: Fave singer
