Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

I guess our e-journals are haraam…

**
Recently, many people have been asking about the permissibility of blogs, i.e. online diaries - I’m sure many of us have seen and read them. I submitted a question to Mufti Nawalur-Rahman about them, the answer can be heard here. English translation:

“Going to websites like these will not be permissible, because they contain personal matters and also they specify names/identities which can create a path for bay-hayaai (shamelessness), and unlawful relations, and It is a source that may leak out the faults/kharaabiyan ‘aayb’ of muslims. It will not be permissible.”**

I got this from an internet blog forum.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

With that reasoning, this entire site, and all other such discussion forums are not permissable in Islam.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

What kind of a fatwa is this? :konfused:

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

One does need to consider that islam asks you to keep many details private, and blogs and messageboards like these are often used to discuss such private matters.

I dont think a blog or a message board itself is the issue, rather some of the content there may not be exactly islamic in nature, and I doubt anyone can really deny that.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

Oh God. Stupidity just keeps increasing.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

Couple of things must be kept in mind when dealing with this issue…

First, we know that a sin committed in secret is secret between Allah :swt: and the sinner…Hence, if the person repents, that sin can be washed away by His mercy…

Disclosing a sin to someone is tantamount to making a witness of your sins in Qiyamah in front of Allah :swt: and that person will come forward and testify to the guilt of person…

Second, most of the non-Muslims keep an account of their personal and intimate affairs on their blogs…Sometimes even the minutest details, even so much that it seems as if you are reading a porn story, which as we all know is Haram…

So, depending on whose blog you are reading, they can certainly give you ideas…And then subconsciously the Muslim will desire the same…After constant reading of such details, the heart then decides, hey, it’s all good…Everybody’s doing it, so why not me?

As far as the journals on this website go, I have not (except one) seen a journal in which someone is disclosing their personal lives, illicit relationships or Haramkaari to others on this board…

Such people have a very rosy appearance but their lives are torn and shattered…Jumping from one relation to the other, they become hollow, distrustful and vain…Then they bring out in the open as something great and awesome…

And of course, since desires are contagious and Shaitaan is ever so willing…Oh, so willing…:bummer:

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

The logic is a failure.

One can also use speech to disclose personal details, so by the same token talking should be forbidden.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

What? Someone has a blog that resembles a porn story? I’ve read most of the blogs, and I have yet to see anything that drastic.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

^^ Ignore Mullahtic ramblings on the matter of modern life. These MAToos haven't been able to figure out basic things such as the lunar calendar. Ramzan is just around the corner. Just see what Mullahtic Wa-hayati will be comitted regarding moon sighting. Heck these beardos still want to live in time 1000 years ago.

Time to have a fixed lunar calendar based on scientific knowledge of planetary movement.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

What I find interesting is that its a source that will leak out kharaabiyan of the muslims…

:rotfl:

We desis are walking examples of the kharaabiyan of muslims! You don’t need a blog to tell you that!

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

what a useless fatwa....
wonder who issued it....
completely out of context, maybe it cud fit well to caertain particular sites but shud not be generalized....

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

Dunno about the journals, but i think that just posting ur problems or sharing ideas, advice or opinions with strangers isn't wrong...cos it's anonymous and u can't really ruin ur reputation cos u don't know any of these ppl, if u do say something bad or ppl know something private about u, it's just online...not in "real" life...at least for me, maybe some of u know each other in "real" life also, in which case it wud be different.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

Ok. It can be moved to Joke Forum now.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

Sometimes I wonder at the level of IQ's here. The reason why I put up the link to the actual fatwa site, was because it wasn't some guy with a personal blog making things up out of his behind. Unless the original fatwa site (to which a link I have posted) is bogus, which I don't know how to confirm that.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

PCG, yes, it is an actual fatwa/Islamic site. The fatwa is very interesting. Like Maniac mentioned, it wouldn't be best or in accord with Islamic beliefs if we start posting/sharing inappropriate or serious personal information. Other than that, I personally don't see much harm in blogging.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

apparently u forgot the fiasco about ur picture being hijacked from admin area and posted on different porn websites. how did all that happen? did u check ur personal photoalbums if any pictures were missing? :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

The moderator's forum is not a blog.

By your logic, i should not even take pictures of myself, for the sole reason that some dork can steal it and misuse it....by that same reasoning, no one should walk outside of their house, because if someone murders them, it was their fault.

Re: Fatwa: Blogs are not Permissable in Islam

hmm, PCG did that really happen ? Wallah some people have no shame and honor...

But yes, one needs to be specially careful with the internet...
