I am a little confused so we are pointing out one thing dodgy from shariah point of view i.e. hugging na mehrams by using an approach that is dodgy from shariah point of view i.e. drawing pictures of people. hmmmmmmmm

**Hadith - Bukhari 3:428, Narrated Said bin Abu Al-Hasan **

While I was with Ibn 'Abbas a man came and said, “O father of 'Abbas! My sustenance is from my manual profession and I make these pictures.” Ibn 'Abbas said, "I will tell you only what I heard from Allah’s Apostle :saw:. I heard him saying, ‘Whoever makes a picture will be punished by Allah till he puts life in it, and he will never be able to put life in it.’ " Hearing this, that man heaved a sigh and his face turned pale. Ibn 'Abbas said to him, “What a pity! If you insist on making pictures I advise you to make pictures of trees and any other unanimated objects.”

Hadith -Bukhari 4:47, Narrated 'Aisha :razi:

I stuffed for the Prophet :saw: a pillow decorated with pictures (of animals) which looked like a Namruqa (i.e. a small cushion). He came and stood among the people with excitement apparent on his face. I said, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is wrong?” He said, “What is this pillow?” I said, “I have prepared this pillow for you, so that you may recline on it.” He said, “Don’t you know that angels do not enter a house wherein there are pictures; and whoever makes a picture will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and will be asked to give life to (what he has created)?”

yep teaser .. i know those ahadeeth, so its kinda ironic isnt it that there are cartoons drawn on that topic :) because if someone is talking from a shariah angle then its very ironic, and if they say they are only talking about it from a cultural or political aspect, then cultural or political aspcts dont matter :)

okay my 2 cents:

  1. Issuing Fatwa here doesn't really make sense. There must be another way of resolving these kinda issues. Its blank nonsense. All these fatwa issuing people are dangerous for islam (should I wait for tamatars)

  2. I believe, this is just another way of diverting our attention from the major issues/current issues such as chief Justise issue. Govt. isn't that stupid. this minister isn't stupid either. they knew all about the reaction coming from people....

  3. She proved herself kinda stupid when she said, hugging is allowed.. (she said something like that).
    I myself don't cover my hair but it doesn't mean, I try to justify it by saying that leaving my hair open is allowed. wrong is wrong - whether we do it or not...
    There need to be limit. We go out, we do work for charities. we have fun. we go for adventures. But we stay in limits.

coolie so I am a little confused...

1) people dont like 'enlightened moderation'
2) people did not like the fact that govt was demolishig illegal structures/mosques
3) so they support these clerics who have come out with this anti govt venom and demands for shariah
4) they support these clerics because of their stance against the govt on the illegal structure issue

but..

if govt and clerics are in cahoots..then by supporting clerics they are supporting the clerics?
