Fatwa against construction of dams on Indus issued

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 31: Provincial and district leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F have issued a “Fatwa” here on Tuesday against construction of Kalabagh, Bhasha and other dams on the Indus River.

Maulana Mohammad Idris Soomro, provincial nazim of JUI-F, presided over the district convention at the Piran Wari Masjid which was attended by a large number of Ulema from Kandiaro, Mehrabpur, Mithiani, Padidan, Bhirya Road, Moro and Naushahro Feroze.

After convention, JUI-F leaders reached the press club and launched membership campaign of the party.

They issued a “Fatwa” in which it was stated that construction of the Bhasha Dam was against Islam and is “Haram” while it was more dangerous than the Kalabagh dam.

They said on Jan 1 they had released a “Fatwa” against construction of the Kalabagh dam.

Its not a relegious issue, shame on those who is using relegion for political reasons and try to get attention.

why dont all fundas and anti dams issue only one fatwa or compaign.

"NO DAMS" instead of creating daily objections against dam to dam basis.

Too much camera exposure can make ppl delusional, particularly when we r dealing with uncouth, semi-literate meglomaniacs.

Opposing the dams for political reasons makes sense, but to throw in a fatwa to give it religious sanctity scandalizes Islam and its followers.

Opposing the dams for political reasons makes sense, but to throw in a fatwa to give it religious sanctity scandalizes Islam and its followers.

Whats the problem.. If the Sindhis die of thirst it will be their own fault, and if they dont and all this Kalabagh talk is nothing more then powers that be throwing their weight around, then we wouldnt have lost anything.

one thing i dont dont understand is what the big deal witht he dams....all around the world dams are being constructed and i havent heard that a whole lot of community died because of the dam.....and i dont think that all of the sindh is going to die just because of some dams......this talk is all political and is critisim for the sake of critism

Because this particular dam will stop the water flowing down into Sindh, destroying it
