So theres much made about the economic cost of obesity, how it overburdens the healthcare system because it leads to diseases such as hypertension etc.

Theres been a recent study though that says that reducing obesity would actually lead to an increase in the strain on healthcare systems and more taxpayer expenditure. Based on the rather morbid plus that fat folk may be more disease prone, but hang around for less :hehe: .. leading the UN Obesity tasforce to say “the benefits of obesity prevention may not be seen immediately in terms of cost savings.”
