It’s all well an good that they want FATA as part of NWFP/Pakhtunkhwa, as it entirely Pashtun, but what have the Balochi’s said about their claim to large parts of their province?
Fata to be made part of ‘Pukhtunkhwa’: ANP
By Our Correspondent
MARDAN, Dec 24: Awami National Party (ANP) president Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that the party’s election manifesto has a programme to include the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in the ‘Pukhtunkhwa’ province. Talking to Dawn here on Monday, he said the manifesto did not address the issue of land reforms because there was no feudalism in the province.
**In reply to a question about Balochistan, he said the ANP wanted the entire Pukhtun nation in one province. **
He dispelled the impression that the ANP and the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) had reached an understanding for the election. He said a candidate of the PML-N for NA-1 (Peshawar-I), Mohammad Afzal Khan, had withdrawn his candidature in favour of Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of the ANP. He said the ANP and the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONM) had no serious differences over boycott of the coming election but only a democratic process could solve problems. He said alliances with other parties were possible after the election. The ANP chief is contesting the election from for National Assembly from Charsadda and Swabi.
Aaap ney farmaya Punjab ko teen hissoon me takseem kar diya jaye, zara meherbani kar ke batayen yeh ‘great’ idea ka kya fayda ho ga? I mean I know you hate Punjab from the core of your heart, but how will that be good for your stance? I dont think it would even matter if you cut it into 6 pieces and name it punjab 1 to 6 (they are already divided in terms of districts), Punjab will be Punjab.
So stating facts mean I hate punjab from the core? Pre-islamic arabia was terrible and Prophet Muhammad [pbuh] had to reform that but it doesn't mean that he hated all the arabs, now did he?
The point is that wishing for reform doesn't always need to taken in a negative way. There are problems with punjab and they need to fixed. I have friends and family in Multan and that city doesn't get what it deserves since s. punjab is very far off from far off Lahore. If it were up to me, the capital of sindh would be hyderabad or some other city so at least they get some $$$ attention. Hyderabad used to be much more maintained when it was the capital unlike now...
...Awami National Party (ANP) president Asfandyar Wali Khan has said .... to include the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in the ‘Pukhtunkhwa’ province.
he obviously has everything well planned and under control :p
the tribal chiefs are all too willing and just waiting for someone to come and offer them this one in a lifetime chance of MERGING into something that will be governed by someone - not by them.... this is one race that is not used to being GOVERNED... or marching to the tunes of someone else's flute.
The real task here is to let them have them their beloved autonomy, live with it, and try to get them on your side, while still maintaining an upper hand and making them work to Pakistan's advantage in that region.
Dont mix or draw any analogies to other parts of pakistan, as this is an entirely different scenario.
Presently, we lack someone who has the guts and balls to walk into this lion's den. The best bet would be a sensible religious personality (none at present) who has influence in those parts, and can at least bring them to the table for some productive discussion.
