How can i fast in ramazan & feed my 2 month old without any difficulties? plz share some tips & tricks…
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
why do you want to do that when Allah has made it easier for you. Do you think your baby will get enough nutrition when you are keeping a 15-16 hour fast?
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
Don't fast while you're breastfeeding! You need to eat to produce milk.
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
You dont have to fast whilst nursing..
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
hmm... i wasnt going to fast but sum1 i know fasted the whole month so i thought i shud give it a try, but i cant stay hungry for more than 4 hrs :(
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
You need to do what is best for your baby. You need to eat frequently while nursing.
Don't fast this Ramadan, it isn't farz on you.
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
I guess one has to makeup for not fasting later on. Isnt it so?
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
yup gotta makeup for it later :)
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
has anyone fasted while their baby was taking solids as well. i think that should make a difference. I am worried the the milk supply may go down but my baby is 10 months already and takes good amount of solids during the day. i was hoping to nurse her till she was 18-20 months, i am worried that fasting will make the milk supply go down. Is there anything i can do to make sure to maintain the milk supply.
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
Nancy Drew, why are you fasting while breastfeeding a newborn? I was pregnant or breastfeeding for like 3-4 Ramadans in a row (two back to back pregnancies, and my second pregnancy was twins). I nursed my eldest for 14-15 months and I nursed my twins exclusively for 6 months. I did not even think about keeping rozas. I've made up the missed rozas since.
Allah SWT has placed the responsibility of a child on you, make up the missed rozas later. It's not a big deal. Fasting for 16 hrs when you're trying to breastfeed a newborn is a big deal.
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
no fasting while breastfeeding
my baby is 6months....i have started him on solids once a day but still breastmilk is the first priority and m not fasting.....
I fasted when my son was 2 month old
But it was a short rosa that is 10 hours and I also pumped and stored my milk after iftari and before Sheri so I use that during my roza.

My baby is 13 months old and I am nursing and fasting AH. As she is eating solids and can drink milk from a cup too, so doesnt make a difference to me if the milk supply goes down, but to answer ur question it does goes down as the fasting hours increase.. but as soon as u open ur roza and drink liquid, milk is back again, for the night no issues .. but I personally would not fast if my baby is under one.
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
i am also not clear with "why fasting while breastfeeding".....?
is there any specific reason that u people kept/keeping rozas?or just like that?
Re: Fasting while Breastfeeding
Allah swt has allowed for you to make up the rozas or pay fidya .
http://www.islamic-relief.org.uk/Fidya_and_Kaffara.aspx
For those that miss any days of fasting during Ramadan, there are two types of missed fasts. For any days missed through necessity, Fidya is payable. For any days missed unnecessarily, Kaffara is payable.
What is Fidya?
When someone cannot fast in Ramadan and cannot make them up afterwards (due to ill health or pregnancy) they pay for someone else to be fed. How much is payable?
It is at a rate of £3.50 per each day that is missed. (This should provide one person with 2 meals or two persons with 1 meal.) If someone misses all the fasts of Ramadan, it would amount to £105.
What is Kaffara?
Kaffara is the compensation that you should give if you deliberately miss or break a fast in the month of Ramadan without a valid reason. **What is the required payment?
**
To atone for the missed/broken fast, someone must either fast continuously for 60 days, or feed 60 poor people at a rate of £3.50 per day per person. This amounts to £210 Kaffara for each missed/broken fast.
