Fasting on the occasion of Isra Al Miraj...

Is it obligatory to fast on day marking Isra Al Miraj? I heard many people say it’s not compulsory & one needs not to fast. Is it? If a person wants, can fast be kept on this day? And if a person doesn’t want, can fasting be skipped?

Re: Fasting on the occasion of Isra Al Miraj...

voluntary rozas are allowed on ANY given day...EXCEPT...both Eids! NO, no other rozas are mandatory/obligatory except in the month of Ramadhan. so, is it clear enuf? :)

Yes! Your posts are usually helpful! :jazak:

Re: Fasting on the occasion of Isra Al Miraj…

thank you…

vaise, roza sirf aur sirf Allah ke liye hotaa hai is liye kisii buzurg hastii yaa apne kisii chaheete ke liye yaa kisii aur ke liye roza rakhnaa Haraam hai. yeh is liye kah rahaa huN k maiN ne kuchh Muslim aurtoN/laRkiyoN ko HinduoN ke “karvaa chauth” ke din kii dekhaa dekhii apne maHboob/husnband/mangetar kii salaamatii ke liye roza rakhte huye dekhaa hai.

sadly, yeh Bollywood ke asaraat haiN! :frowning:

and, one more thing!

you can also NOT fast for someone else. i mean if somebody missed rozas and passed away, then you can NOT fast for him, just like you can NOT do namaaz for him/her. only sadaqas can be given in someone else’s name.

Peace pinkky,

Fasting is not obligatory on this day marking Isra Al Miraj. It is forbidden to fast (single out a day for fast). What you heard is correct that its not compulsory and there is no needs to fast. However, if someone wish to fast then he/she fast for three days (continuously) in a week.
