many women have this concept in their minds. my mil in particular also look down upon people who don't fast even a pregnant woman , she speaks of them as if the pregnant woman who is not fasting is comitting a serious sin. I didnt pay any heed to her thoughts. I am the one who is carrying the baby and I know how I am feeling , if I feel fine I'll fast , if not I won't. We fast for Allah and not to please any human being on this earth and if ALLAH ALMIGHTY understands and gives consideration to pregnant women then it's nobody's business !
My doc told me to drink double amount of water of what I used to drink when I was not pregnant . How can one fulfil this requirement when fasting ? Your body needs extra calories too when pregnant , that can be balanced by eating a good diet but dehydration can become a major issue for any pregnant woman to tackle during fast.
i know how you feel! people have such backward thinking on this topic esp in pakistan. lack of awareness.
i didnt fast during my pregnancy and while i breastfed, and i remember the 3rd class comments i got from women who judged me saying it was wrong! i got lectures on it from one woman at an aftari party as she saw me sipping water before everyone else had broken their fast. i gave her a piece of my mind as it was quite a lot to hear AND i didnt even know her! everyone believes in their own kind of islam these days which is really sad.
i offered *fidyah *for the fasts i missed. there was no way i could make them up as i thought that would be damaging for my health...i had like 72 to make up!
