Re: Fasting during pregnancy
i don't think you should fast during pregnancy esp' during 3rd semester. when allah talah, who is so kind, has given the mother-to-be full permission not to fast for the betterment of baby and mother then why not avail it? there is no sin not fasting during pregnancy, as so many of my friends in pakistan think so and if you can't make up all the fasts later (as that is really hard esp' as i had to make up 72 days of fasting which i couldn't do) then you can pay money to the poor. allah talah has made islam so fair and wonderful for us.
i see so many women, including one of my friends who is in 8th month fasting in this hot weather! when she came to my home for aftari she is worn out entirely, her face looked weary and she complained her mouth was so dry she couldn't gulp. She looked dehydrated and I think she is causing harm to herself and her baby! her feet were puffed-up and i don't know why but it didn't seem look like a good sign and she seriously needed water and to eat! except she says her islam doesn't allow her to skip fasts!!!! 8 months pregnant and fasting! She is torturing herself I think. And she isn’t the only woman doing this in my area.
i gave up explaining why she shouldn't be fasting as she firmly believed she would sin by not fasting!
what is wrong with these women who do this to themselves?
