During Ramadan, I will need to travel from Canada to Bahrain.
I fully intend to keep my fast on my day of departure, since Maghrib will be around the time I expect to be in the plane but still on the ground. Overnight I will be flying to the UK for a connecting flight to Bahrain.
Whilst by plane is approaching the UK, the time for the beginning of the next fast fast will pass. The time to break the fast will come whilst I am on the way to Bahrain.
Am I obliged to keep the fast that would be due to take place whilst I am travelling, ie beginning whilst I am on the plane to the UK and ending whilst on the plane to Bahrain?
Or can I forego that fast due to travel and compensate by fasting one day once the 5 days of Eid are past?
Ok, so by both links rulings I'll be in transit at the time the fast takes place, so I can skip it and make it up later.
I always thought that Eid was 5 days for some reason, and I've always read that you can't fast on the days of Eid. Hence my plan to make up a fast on the 6th day after Eid.
i know u r not suppose to be fasting while travelling. but how soon should we start fasting once u land in another country according to the local timings? and is it okay if by travelling to other countries , u may end up fasting an extra day?
when i went to pakistan...i did not fast while traveling, it is allowed to not fast while you are traveling....once i was there i start fasting next day..
i am not sure how can you do extra day in fasting..since, you will be missing couple of days..
That is correct guys.i.e. you do no thave to fast while traveling but make it up later on. I have had a long debate on this long time ago. My objection was that these days we do not travel in the heat of Sahara or desert’s or on camels.
But the answer that was given to me was pretty straight forward. The person I asked was a Maulvi Sahab and he said If Allah swt have gifted you something, given you a break on something then, why wouldnt you want to take advantage of it and rather be persistent and do the thing that is AGAINST of His will. If He has said NOT to fast while travelling then DO NOT. It’s like He has given you a GIFT and you are refusing to take it .
Allah has given an OPTION to not fast, He has not FORBIDDEN you from it. By fasting while travelling is not equivalent to “refusing the gift”. Allah swt gave you the option of not fasting, so if you don’t fast while travelling there is no blame, thats how He made our lives “easy”.
