Fastest in USA

Hi all, I really appreciate participating in your forum and will start my posting with new information.
After the tragic attack on 9/11 and the war on terrorism, war on Islam in most media, I don’t know why Islam still remain the fastest-growing religion in America and in the world although religion is no longer dominates everyday life in Western society. Millions of people read Koran (Quran) in the Internet and visited Islamic sites.

Islam is the fastest-growing religion in America, a guide and pillar of stability for many of our people…" Hillary Rodman Clinton, Los Angeles Times

Cat Stevens:

By the early '70s he was rich, famous, filling stadiums and partying like the pop star he’d become. But before the decade was over he walked away from it all.

You can kill muslims but you will never beat them!

Re: Fastest in USA

From what I've read from different people who have converted to Islam, there are a few main reasons for most conversions:

  1. Muslims and Christians agree that God is self-existent. This means that He does not derive his existence from anyone. Also they believe in Jesus, love him, and honor him. In fact, no Muslim can be a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, on whom be peace.
The Quran teach that Jesus is prophet or messenger from Allah and not a God so Quran denies the divinity of Jesus. The Qur'an says that Jesus was born of a virgin, that he spoke while he was still only a baby, that he healed the blind and the leper by God's leave, and that he raised the dead by God's leave.

  2. Islam is a religious lifestyle, not just a quick Sunday morning church visit and a label. Although some Christians do pray before each meal and spend much time with their Bible, etc.many doesn’t in the West. Islam is something that can't be shunted into a few spare hours. You pray five times a day. Your dress code is affected; even your food choices are explained in the Qur'an. Many converts like it because they feel actively involved and as if they are truly religious. Some people also studied Buddhism, flirted with Roman Catholicism or spent time with Quakers, but ultimately found them lacking.

  3. For women, it is a big and welcome change from the "in your face" sexuality of western culture. Women are not required by the Qur'an to veil. They are required to dress modestly and it is recommended that they cover their hair. However, most do veil and some go farther with niquab (the face screen) or other traditional clothes. Women dressed like this consider themselves marked as religious women, not easy dates. They don't get hit on. No one gawks at their bodies. They are clearly off limits sexually and many say it is liberating not to have to conform to western standards of sexy dress, makeup and spending so much time and money on appearance. You buy a five-dollar hair cover, put your hair in a ponytail and cover, wear long skirt and a tunic shirt -you're set.

  4. Islam is also growing because many people are not satisfied with Christianity. They feel it is too liberal, too fluid and changes for the culture. Islam on the other hand is more rigid and does not as a whole allow much for modern changes and the whims of society. Many like it because they feel other religions have loose standards.

  5. Islam has shown itself to be not only the most widespread religion in the world, but also the most dynamic, attracting converts at a faster rate than at anytime in the last 500 years.
A person like me who is unfamiliar with Islamic teachings might be surprised to hear that Islam is not a “religion” in the narrow sense used by secular humanists and does not rely upon blind faith to make its case, but rather, encourages to use minds, for example, the Qur'an invites to ponder upon the wonders of creation, and challenges with intellectual arguments, further study of the Qur'an demonstrates that sound reasoning and scientific knowledge confirm rather than contradict authentic revelation and its ability to satisfy the intellect whilst bringing peace to the soul. Also Islam deals with every aspect of life, spiritual and physical; its jurisprudence is based on a creed, instruction on worship, and ordinances regarding social, economic, and political aspects.
That's what I got from Islam-online & Islam way women's board and a few others of mine. Stats taken by many college groups say that women convert 4 times more often then men.

Re: Fastest in USA

cina - actually what you have said is not true, that in spite of 9/11 etc. 9/11 happened in 2001. All these statements about islam growing were made before that. Terrorism such as 9/11 has damaged islam, not helped it grow. see these, which are where the quotes you have used came from - all before 9/11

Re: Fastest in USA

i know why islam is the fastest growing religion. Muslims keep reproducing like bunnies.. on average muslims have more kids than non muslims in ameria..
plus we keep hearing about ppl converting to islam but we never hear about ppl leaving Islam because they are too scared to admit it. islam is one of those religion that welcomes ppl to convert to it but threatens to kill them if they leave it... so yeah thats why Islam is the "fastest" growing religion..

Re: Fastest in USA

Michael Jackson never converted. Denied by him and his brother several times. Blinds still see him converted. DO NOT QUOTE unless you see an official announcement. When our Muslim brothers and sisters will learn to verify a news, when Prophet SAW clearly stated it in a famous hadeeth.

MissTy, you are correct on most of the points. However, Islam only threatens to kill a convert/murtid if this happens in an pure Islamic state where Sharia is Implemented. Otherwise its a big no no for an ordinary man or a Western style democracy where the law of the land is written by ex British masters. There are always conditions. Nobody investigates, just read it on a website or news channel and post it.

Re: Fastest in USA

How many people can openly admit they are murtids in countries that don't follow sharia but are still muslim dominant? Have u heard any apostate come out in pakistan and announce about their apostacy? I don't think so. even in western countries, people who speak against islam are sent death threats by muslim extremists. So most apostates dont come out and openly admit it so we don't really have a statistics on how many people leave islam.

Re: Fastest in USA

It seems to be a very useless argument.

Neither muslims are fastest growng in America nor they are in the world.

Hispanics are fastest growng in US. Next are ALL Asians/Pacific Islanders, then blacks or Native Americans.

All Asians are not muslims.

http://www.allbusiness.com/legal/laws-government-regulations-employment/623102-1.html

It is christanty which is fastest growing around the world.

Conversion and populaton growth both lead to religion growth.

Search World Christian Databse (WCD)

With the number of muslims dying over several years, who would think they are fastest growing?

Re: Fastest in USA

hillary rodman clinton? :lmao:

Re: Fastest in USA

First Islam is truth thats why Islam is spreading secondly most people of other religions are much confused about their faith such Christians on trinity and others on different topics than also many religions have already prdicted about coming of Hazrat MUHAMMAD (S.A.W) and last west people have good habit of reading when they see so much propoganda they get curious and than they study Islam and Islam as it is truth just attracts them

Re: Fastest in USA

misty even if we give full fredom for apostates even than their will be very very few

Re: Fastest in USA

We cannot steer people's personal faith. Islam is now a part of western culture, wheither we like it or not. It's not just for people in prison, or rock stars looking for a new thing. Some people just associate with Islam more than Christianity. That does for the other side of things too - 70% or so of Westerns are Christians, and although some don't like that, it's just the way it is. It's a fact, it can't be changed, and those people are entitled to follow their faith. Acts in the name of christianity have been responsible for some pretty fuc.ed up consequences in the last 100 years.

Guys, I was raised as a Christian, and I admit that there is a great deal of hatred and discrimination towards Islam I've seen and heard it, straight from the mouths of preachers and 'christians' I, myself, respect and admire Islam, for its perpetual struggle for justice and equal treatment I believe that many of the so called "Western Christians", have an agenda to destroy and eradicate Islam In the 50's and 60's, westeners targetted communism and regarded it as a threat to the western way of life~fallacy 50 years later, its the same, the only thing that changes is the target

After the events of 9/11, many people looked into Islam to see why the so called Muslims were doing this. All they found was the solution to the grief suffered by humanity. They realised that these terrorits were only misguided, as Islam says it is forbidden to kill inoccent people or commit suicide. These reverts saw the truth of Islam and so became Muslims.

Re: Fastest in USA

Cina - look at your own sources you have linked - they are all BEFORE 9/11. nobody is converting to islam after 9/11 - atleast not in any significant numbers because of the bad repu!

Re: Fastest in USA

Actually there is some merit to say that Islam is increasing more than any other religion.

Firstly, the vast majority of converts to Islam are from Christianity. As the population of Christians increases so does the tendency of them to convert to Islam.

http://fastestgrowingreligion.com/numbers.html

This site shows some interesting data. According to it the largest population at the moment is Christianity. A predicted 1.3% increase is expected in 50 years from 2000 to 2050 of global proportion.

Islam is predicted to grow by 5.4%. The absolute amounts are similar. The interesting thing is that Christianity will increase by about 53% of it’s own population whereas Islam will be reaching 88%. This will increase the rate of conversion and the trends should make another turn.

At the moment the trends are too linear, but I believe there will be a cross over between Christianity and Islam within the 50 years and the trends will be shown as wrong.

Re: Fastest in USA

so many beautiful things about islamic culture but i think it's easier for a christian to convert to islam

why are there so many verses about nonmuslims though? nobody ever has an answer for me, even verses where the message is supposed to be one which would give a person inspiration brings up a nonmuslim as a bad example. Aren't nonmuslim or nonmuslim practices always shown as tempting a pure muslim soul towards the 'wrong' path or towards hell. there was a thread about that but it wasn't given much attention.

it would be great if psyah or an islam expert could clarify those Quranic verses that bring up nonmuslims for me. Hopefully i've completely misunderstood.
