i read of a bowler called amar singh of india who, according to that indian cricket magazine, was very very very fast....
and also killed an english player with a delivery that hit him in the ribs....
that was way back in the 1930's....
but zaheer seems to be the best fast bowler i have seen for india....

kaka malang nay shayat ghalt note kiya ho coz its officlal ke shoaib kee bowling speed agaisnt namibia 159.1 was the fastest EVER recorded by offcial speed guns. barring that sponsors speed gun recorded 161 against NZL.
Please keep one scale, either mph or kmp, don’t get an old person like me confused.
IMO, it’s about consistency not just who bowled the fastest. If you are not zooming by in your 5th over, then a few fast ones in the first over doesn’t count much.
True that it's not just about speed - but both Lee and Shoaib are pretty accurate as well. Fast bowlers figures tend to get spoiled by a lot of edges that go for four.
And there's definitely competition between the two about who's the fastest. After the press release about Shoaib breaking the 100mph barrier, the Aussies quickly released a statement claiming Lee had done it two years earlier (which turned out to be un-substantiated).
shoaib bowled a 98.8 mph delivery against the namibian batsmen burger which was then classified as the quickest delivery recorded in a world cup tournament.
so brett lee’s wc record short lives shoaib once again stamps his authority on the park…
