It’s the last bastion of women’s outerwear that hasn’t been appropriated by the more fashionable men out there **- until now. High heels are, apparently, de rigueur for men.
To the possible chagrin of some more traditional males, those with a fashionable eye and an eccentric sensibility are taking the women’s power dressing weapon of choice and making it their own.
And the resulting looks are far from the Priscilla Queen of the Desert-esque drag styles that are so often associated with men in heels.
Luke Nero, a promoter at Mr Black club in LA, told the New York Times: ‘I went to a loft party yesterday, and there was a guy in normal shorts, normal tank and really hot red pumps. That’s it! Everyone was like, “Oh my God, I love those shoes!”’
At the club, Coy Barton, 24, and Mark Cramer, 25, paired their black heels with relatively conservative trousers and shirts.
Mr Barton said to the paper: ‘I’m in Steve Madden, he’s in Chinese Laundry… These were $115. Mine were, like, $170.’
Re: Fashionable Gentlemen: High heels for men are on the rise
See, as much as I connect any guy in heels to being 'gay', these guys look more meterosexual (to the extreme). You know a guy who's super rich and can afford all the high end fashion ( so he appreciates heels?) but he's not gay?.
Re: Fashionable Gentlemen: High heels for men are on the rise
Okay seriously when I clicked this section I was expecting the sort of thing like Cowboy boots or Mens boots/shoes with a slight heel...
I did not expect anything like that though. I can understand for some guys a heel on a boot can be usefull as a rider be it horse or motorcyle the Heel is very usefull for balance.
For a lot of top heavy chaps or your average biker type those sorts of heels would be fatal... how the hell is a man supposed to walk on those?
These are obviously very gay...
I think some heels such as biker/cowboy boots might well be fashionable but those are totally wrong.
