Fashion Face in Houston, TX/Bridal makeup recs?

Salaam everyone,

Does anyone have reviews for Fashion Face/Berkha in Houston, TX? Are there any other good MUAs for shaadi makeup and hair? Did trial with shazia kazi and really did not like my makeup :frowning:

@nn21

Fashion Face did my bridal makeup/hair and make-up/hair for my mom and sisters on my wedding day a few years ago. Make-up was done by Berkha and hair by Tatyana. Everything looked amazing and I got tons of compliments on it. I paid $100 for a make-up and hair trial but that money was credited to my total amount once I booked them. They came to my hotel and did everything. Berkha used Kryolan for my base and most of the other MU was Laura Mercier/MAC.

Note: Tatyana has since left Fashion Face and started her own business. I’ll post a link to her FB page below. She’s Russian but going by the FB looks does she does desi brides too (I’m sure she got plenty of exposure to desi brides while working with Berkha). I know Fashion Face is pricey so I would also recommend contacting Tatyana just to see her prices (assuming you like what you see on her FB page).

My experience with Fashion Face trial was not good. I told her I wanted more of a dramatic and bold bridal look, very traditional - not soft and romantic. She made me look like a clown. No contouring, the foundation was caked on and she over drew my already full lips and it was such a disappointment. I believe she charges $500 if you get ready at her salon and $700 if you have her come to you.

Shazia Kazi was also a disappointment. She came to the trial without her full kit! Who does that? Her eyeliner was running out so we couldn’t really tell what the full look would be. Then she made me pay for the trial - I totally understand respecting an artists time but if you don’t come with your whole kit and eye liner that is running out - then why should I be expected to pay you full price for the trial?

I had a very hard time finding a great make up artist in Houston. I had to bring my wedding MUA in from Dallas. MsPaintedLady, Ishnae & Co, Natalia Issa, Make up by Shilpa - there are just many more talented and professional make up artists in Dallas.

Saniya Momin at Infinite Perfection is a good option - but even with her you have to micromanage and make sure there are no mistakes. She goes so fast that she doesn’t pay attention to details all the way. She did my make up for a few events and it looked good, it just wasn’t perfect. She also does Mehndi and her Mehndi is amazing. You can PM me if you need more information. I just got married in May in Houston so I have all kinds of knowledge about vendors!

My wedding venue was House plantation at Texas and it is very close to Houston. The best thing here is that it is an all-inclusive wedding venue and we haven’t hired any makeup specialist as they were available in the venue itself. You can contact them and ask, whether they can provide you their services. They are good professionals in their field. For removing any doubt you can also visit their website.

Are you desi? This wedding venue doesn’t have any pictures of desi weddings and by desi standards, the pics of their decor seems very bland/boring.
