Fascinating!

I would post this in the Science section but nobody really visits that subforum and I am interested in your guys’ opinion on this. But if you’d like, @SID_NY you shall move it there.

So basically, an experiment was done recently that supports the hypothesis that there is no such thing as objective reality, two observers can experience different and conflicting realities.

This is something I have struggled to put into words for several years now. The implications of such an experiment though, can cause one to fall in a rabbit hole of thought. Nevertheless, fascinating stuff.

Ah the Wigners’ Friend? I lost all sense of what is real and what is not after submerging myself in the Quantum Physics! may be everything is real, may be everything is false, may we never existed, may be we were never there, may be we exist again and agains in a never ending cycle of universal replication!

Have you read about the String theory? its very fascinating, and the only thing that the Einstein’s General Relativity cannot reconcile with? Get me the Theory of Everything if you could!

Ok I didn’t read till the end. Only till some pretti & co suggest that “objective reality does not exist”. I think that’s stupid. No doubt creation of any thought good or bad is important & create different realities not only for the one creating those thoughts but also for others in the universe. That’s why all the religions insist on creating / keeping only good thoughts and not negative bad thoughts for others. But saying that “Objective reality” does not exist is wrong. The thoughts created by us surely impact the objective reality which happens and has been happening in the universe since its existence & we have no control to stop it. The only control we have is creating of our own thoughts and it’s impact on the reality which already exists out there.

I usually get in depth of some experiments or theory only to the level that also allows me to stay in the reality around me too.

One word that disturbed me alot while reading the article was “super position”. WTH is a superposition??? And then it sais that superposition exists only in wigners imagination but he claimed that he could also prove it to exist. Im not believing wigner until I see the proof. That is; wigner performing that superposition. It’s all his claims so he must provide proof of it too. Else I’m not trusting a word he says :pcg:

I don’t see what the big deal is of this study, two people can interpret a situation differently. It’s always been like that.

I wonder if it is objective reality doesn’t exist entirely or we as humans cannot truly find objective reality (even if it is out there) because of our own biases and limited POV?

Thats the point, your ‘Reality’ is only real for you.

Superposition is established scientific fact, like ripples in a puddle, or waves on a rope , when they meet, they overlap and interact, sometimes their overall effect is to make a bigger wave, other times canceling each other out, sometimes do both. In the context of this article, you need to understand just like many other established physical principles e.g general relativity, do not reconcile with quantum physics, the Superposition does not so either. As in the quantum world superposition can mean something different entirely. At the quantum scale, particles can also be thought of as waves (or many other things, weird na?). Particles can exist in different states e.g in different positions, having different energies or be moving at different speeds. But because quantum mechanics is s strange thing, instead of thinking about a particle being in one state or changing between a variety of states (linear or interchangeable), particles are thought of as existing across all the possible states at the same time, and hence giving different meaning of reality to different observers (i am a vibrating string who will have a different perception of @aqua70’s rippling wave floating about in a different direction, speed or state than she will have of my own existence (or lack of!) and hence we will never be able to ‘superposition’. This could only reconcile if all the realities exist together, or do not exist at all, and the problem gets solved which the author was referring to.

On a lighter note, me @aqua70 reconciling is more like superposition at a quantum level, and who is the particle and who is anti-particle is up to everybody’s interpretation (just kidding Aqua)

question your existence aqua, question everything, which actually may be nothing!!! The nothing of nothingness.

@FigmentOfYour

Get some help.

lol, the international mafia of flying monkeys will come to help you psycho

haha we are coming after you, we are watching you, your every move, every action, we know…Lol

[FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif]There is zero evidence of string theory. Physicists have been spending their careers on it with out getting any where. Smart people can be equally stupid. Very interesting phenomenon.
[FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif] Lets just stay real.

That is most likely the case. Your comment reminded me of dark matter and dark energy and how we can not see or observe them yet combined, they make up majority of the universe. Our limited pov for sure hinders our ability to see objective reality.

Should we petition Sunny to move this to the Science forum?
