This is interesting. I wonder what is considered classic Persian then?
Classical Persian is pretty much from the Conquest of Persia onwards. There's a point in time where Arabic is set as the language of the land and some time after this you have Shahnameh Where it ends I don't really know. I know Modern Persian starts from about 19th century onwards.

My father tried teaching me persian long time back, if only I had paid some heed 
words coming to my mind right now, although I am not sure of the meanings, maybe someone can correct
guftam = said
shaneedam = heard
Na-deedam = unseen
so many dams..hehe

I bet you know alot of farsi words, since almost every second Urdu word is derived from farsi.
Khoda = God Rang = Color Aasman = Heaven Hafte = Week Khanum = Lady
And so on...
I love this Khanum word for lady in farsi :)
