These threads ought to be taken seriously, and farhat should be included in the playing 11. Else imagine Farhat's bat in Ilyas's hand. you dont want that, trust me.

Ilyas banned from entering Gaddafi Stadium

LAHORE, June 20: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned the entry of former Test cricketer Mohammad Ilyas into its offices at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Ilyas told Dawn on Wednesday that after receiving the news from someone about his ban he rang up the PCB’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Shafqat Naghmi to verify the report.

“Naghmi confirmed the ban had been imposed on me, but he did not give any reason for it. I also asked Naghmi to give me the PCB’s decision in writing, but he refused. I said the Gaddafi Stadium is cricketers’ property but Naghmi said it is the PCB’s property,” Ilyas said.

Ilyas declared that he would address a press conference against the PCB’s (ban) ruling, adding he would also disclose many of its wrongdoings.

When contacted by Dawn, Naghmi said the decision regarding prohibiting Ilyas’s entry into the Gaddafi Stadium had already been taken earlier when Ilyas allegedly threatened the national selection committee by saying “the war is on”.

Though the PCB had taken the decision two months ago it did not make it public.

Ilyas, who is an old friend of chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed and one of his members Shafqat Rana, showed his resentment when his son-in-law Imran Farhat was not selected for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi in April. Ilyas went into the room of Salahuddin and complained for not selecting his son-in-law.

“To safeguard our staff we have to take some measures after the threat, so we did it in the best interest of the board,” Naghmi stated.

Asked whether the PCB was expecting Ilyas would use weapons against the selectors, Naghmi denied he said that, however, added that taking appropriate measures was the board’s right to avoid any untoward situation.

But when asked whether a warning (to Ilyas) was not unnecessary, before banning him, Naghmi replied the PCB took the decision on merit, however, he added, if Ilyas felt himself wrong he could apologise for his act to get the ban lifted.

Former Test batsman to go on hunger strike

Mohammad Ilyas, former Test batsman and father-in-law of discarded Test opener Imran Farhat, will observe a hunger strike in front of Parliament Square in Islamabad to protest the ban on him entering the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. According to Shafqat Naghmi, the PCB’s chief executive, the ban was imposed on Ilyas after he allegedly threatened the national selectors.

Addressing a news conference, Ilyas said that he was being penalised for criticising the PCB’s policies and that it was painful to hear that he was banned from a stadium where he had played cricket decades before.

“When I called Naghmi to know the reasons for this punishment, he declined to give any reason just saying that I cannot enter the stadium,” he said. “I tried to advise him that the stadium belongs to the Test cricketers but he [Naghmi] kept insisting that it was the property of the PCB and Test cricketers have no right to it.”

After what started off as a protest against Farhat being overlooked for the Abu Dhabi tour, Ilyas turned his attention to the undemocratic attitude of the PCB. “If Farhat performs and he is not selected again, then I will also stage a protest on that issue,” he said. “The war is on with PCB and I will fight it for the sake of dignity and self-esteem of a former Test cricketer.”

When asked about the harsh words he had used against the selectors, Ilyas said that both chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed and Shafqat Rana were his old friends, and that what he had said was in the heat of the moment. “I just used those words in the heat of the moment against my friends without any bad intention,” he said. “I have, in fact, forgotten the incident.”

Farhat, you can thank your susar for ending your career (good riddance).

Re: Farhat's father-in-law threatens selection committee

This thread gives an impression that Farhat's father-in-law regularly threatens PCB, which is far from truth. For example this week and the last, he did not threatened any official at all, even though Farhat continues to be out of the team. He has threatened PCB in Feb, March time, but its not like his hobby. Atleast for this year, he has threatened only twice. In 2006 also, it was just 5 times, last two being in Nov and December. Just setting the record straight.
