Imran Farhat launched another stinging attack against Pakistan’s selectors, claiming that their bias towards him compelled him to opt out of a central contract and join the Indian Cricket League (ICL) instead.

Farhat last represented Pakistan during the Test series in South Africa; he has since been overlooked not only for the subsequent ODI series, but also the World Cup and the tours to Abu Dhabi and Scotland. He was also recently omitted from the squad for the Twenty20 World Championship after being handed a central contract.

“Instead of being appreciated, I was put in the list of Future Players Programme that caused me great mental torture. And as if this wasn’t humiliating enough, the selectors called me for the Twenty20 camp in Karachi, only to drop me to give another shock,” Farhat told Dawn.

“Despite being the top scorer at the Patron’s Trophy one-day cup and in the Pentangular Cup, the selectors have been considering me as a Test player. They don’t know I am also a record-holder of the national Twenty20 championship, having scored 115 in an innings of the second edition of the event in Karachi.”

Farhat scored over 500 runs in last year’s Pentangular Cup, four-day matches played on a league basis, with a top-score of 184 and 242 runs at a strike-rate of over 100 in the five Patron’s Cup matches he took part in.

Farhat’s ODI record, however, has never been convincing, with only six half-centuries and a solitary century to show from 33 matches. In his last 15 ODIs, he has scored 337 runs at an average of 24.07, with only two half-centuries.

I can understand this coming from Yousuf, Inzi or Razzaq but why Farhat??

*Jub bhee moon kholay ga bakwas hee karay ga. He should be thankful that Mohammad Yousuf has also joined the ICL. I can understand PCB not giving a $hit about Inzi and Razzaq anymore and banning them however because of Yousuf there is a chance that they will not be banned. *

So someone should tell the idiot to just shut up and play the league.

I know selectors have been unfair to farhat but even when he played, what exactly has he done? He has been a failure all around. Younis khan was also treated unfairly earlier and was even dropped for almost a year but he came back and came back with a bang. Now he cant be dropped. Both Farhat and YK started their career around the same time. Maybe yk started few months before.

sir ji, its not like he scored heavily whenever he got countless opportunities at international level. Domestic mai tu Ijaz Junior abhi tuk centuries tika raha hai, shold we call HIM back too?

my sympathies are with him, IF, he did infact was the highest scorer in these tournaments and is also a record holder for 20 20, then what exactly does he need to do to get another chance? can someone explain that to me please??

stop being blind guys... yes if someone was given a chance and he didnt really perform to his potential and was dropped,,, him being the top scorer shows hes still good!, and probably better than the others, to be consistently performing... and being the top scorer... if the selection was based on merit,,, he should be in there... and hes clearly being mistreated.

I agree with him, and do honestly think PCB and the selectors are a bunch of dickheads! and him being related to miandad most likely has a part to play as well.

Good for him that he joined ICL,,, i hope he flourishes there and these PCB clowns realize they messed up.

So why is it a bad thing that hes speaking up against these clowns??? dont judge n hate someone just cos he does speak up...

oh and im not in anyway related to imran farhat... didnt see anything extraordinary about his batting either... but people change... and improve, and everyone has the right to be given a fair go... if hes topscoring consistently... hes definitely got something.

same thing happened to imran nazir when india was here in Pak... the guy was killing the opposition lift, right, n centre in QA trophy... and was overlooked... u need to play people when they are red hot and high in confidence.

First of all he needs to be patient. He performed at domestic level before, got his chance at international level, ruined his chances through mindless dismissals. Now someone else (Salman Butt) who performed equally well in domestic circuit recalled to Pakistani team and all Farhat can do is wait patiently and keep playing well. Whats up with this attitude of 'I scored so many runs and still didnt get recalled'. There can only be two openers in one team you know so he HAS to be patient.

Have you even seen him bat (or even f'ing field, for that matter) in an international match? Sympathizing with anyone is easy, but I warn you to be extra cautious in the case of this dhabba on an openers name. He has been given more than enough chances; time to move on.
