The ODI series win, emergence of Raina and Gambhir, conquest by Yuvraj, resurgence of Tendulkar and the absolute reckless frolick in the greens by Dhoni have ensured Ganguly wouldn’t be in serious contention in near future. The ODI series win would have reversed criticisms in India I think.
Ganguly brought swagger to India when it was much needed. Sachin personified an Indian greatness but Ganguly brought the edge to the team. The two can take credit for instilling a well grounded confidence in the new stalwarts.
While the controversy could have been avoided and he could have faded away noiselessly, Ganguly fought to keep in the action. I’d like to think it was due to his passion and an abiding self confidence that he can reclaim glory. Something that should not be that out of place in a true man.
And so I decided to write this lomg speech even as guppies celebrate our sweet victory - Fare thee well Ganguly. You had a part in this too.
sourav is a great player, he still has a chance to make it big, if he does good in tests and at domestic level. he recently had a good game. although i dont prefer him in the team. he is getting old and wont be there for long anyways, so why not let the young bloods improve.
Ganguly really needs to give it a rest. Let not the ODI win make India forget that it is Ganguly who is the main culprit in India's test series loss. He wouldnt have been in the team, there would have been a specialist opener and Dravid would have been at his captain's seat instead of out there in the front in the new ball firing range. Ganguly's presence totally upset the order of the Indian team not only on the field but in the dressing room also.
