Agree, it’s surprising to me. I’ve gotten really professional responses from them on price inquiry, and someone else (who is not RICH) had a lovely experience with Maliha. She gave Maliha a $300 budget for a formal, which is not a huge amount for a Pakistan designer, and they communicated on whatsapp and she got an outfit she loves.
FTA is expensive. That’s just a fact. And if you go to them asking for a smaller budget then inquire about something that’s likely 3-4 times more expensive than that, they’re not going to want to get into a back and forth about that because it’s a waste of their time. If you say you have a budget of $5,000 and then inquire about something that’s probably close to $15,000, they are totally in their rights to discourage you from the latter.
Sometimes I think in Pakistan it goes both ways. Consumers expect designers to fall over themselves for you and are SO easily offended. To be fair, they don’t have to chase after you and your money - they’re doing fine as it is.
