Far Far Far Away, not the one in Shrek…This is far far away were many of the Pakistanis live on this discussion forum…
Far Far Away from their motherland, far far far away from reality of everyday Pakistan. Yet they speak eloguently and with so much audacity about all the issues that face us Pakistanis in Pakistan. They have all the right to do so. They are not any lesser Pakistanis. The only problem is that many (not all) have never faced the reality of Pakistan by actually living in Pakistan (not visiting).
What I am saying might sound bitter to many, but I do not mind since I was like one of those living far far away from Pakistan. I thought and spoke differently about Pakistan. I had such patriotism for Pakistan that I even ended up with fights with those who said a word againt my homeland. I still do love Pakistan however have become more realistic in my approach. The people ruling this country who seemed like heroes , even if they came through coups have now disappointed millions of my countrymen living in the homeland.
Its the ones far far away who really puzzle me. A common Pakistani in Pakistan hardly cares about what goes on outside the country. They hardly understand how people with NAB cases become our miniters on key positions. All they are concerned about is Food, security and a place to live.
I have come across countless people who even with all the problems love the country (I hope it stays that way). But what they don’t love is the system they have to deal with everyday. Ignoring what happens in Karachi and some other cities, the federal capital has problems of its own. Yes the capital, right under the nose of Mush, chaudharys and sherpaos. Which Pakisatni sitting far far away can imagine that in Pakistan buying a piece of property is a nightmare. Who can imagine that even if its bought someone may just occupy it and will not prepare to leave it (just like the leaders do). Who would imagine that with all the laws of “emancipation” and “freedom” rapes are common. Who would even know whats its like in apolice station in Pakistan. Ofcourse you cannot know. Even if you know you can’t feel it or experience it, since you are far far away.
The only thing i have to say to those who come blazing with speeches of Pakistan’s success in economics, judiciary, governance and society, please do not sprinkle more salt on the wounds of ordinary Pakistanis who are not far far far away! And I can assure you one thing, for what we Pakistanis have earned with our own hands, the whole nation including its leaders are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites!
