Fantasy Books

Hi All,

My close friend is all into this Fantasy genre of reading. She loved and lived by Harry Potter, but with that series closed she is feeling emtpy. She’s reading chronicles of Narnia these days but finds it very childish.

She loves big fat books, please suggest something I can buy for her as an Eid present. I have no clue of anything that is fantasy. Thanks.

Re: Fantasy Books

His Dark Materials (Trilogy: Northern-Lights, The Subtle Knife, The Amber Spyglass) by Philip Pullman.

It's meant for kids, and God is portrayed as a satanic angel who took control of the universe by force and in the end becomes old and feeble, which might be a bit blasphemous to some, other than that it's a pretty good read.

PS. Northern Lights is called The Golden Compass in USA.

Re: Fantasy Books

Age is 23 but yaar she likes Harry Potter so how mature can she be
ehehhe

Re: Fantasy Books

Wow thanks guys- I didnt expect a response so fast.

Re: Fantasy Books

The dark is rising.

Re: Fantasy Books

Thanks!
This sounds so much liek HP - good and evil- three characters.

Re: Fantasy Books

Thanks, looks good. :k:

I’m going to ring the library first thing tomorrow to order this.

Re: Fantasy Books

Nothing wrong with that.

Books for grown-ups are depressing.

Re: Fantasy Books

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

Re: Fantasy Books

^ PCG is this a series? or do they just write a book at a time?

Re: Fantasy Books

Its just one book. More adult in nature. Clean so far. Entertaining to read - same sort of witty Brit fantasy literature. I haven't read the entire thing yet - its a long read. But so far its fun.

Terry Pratchett is also a good author in that respect. He's done children's and adult fantasy. Bizarre stuff.

Neil Gailman's Stardust was recently turned into a movie- he's a good writer too.

Re: Fantasy Books

Also, Wizard of Earthsea is quite popular.
