fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

I still can’t figure out the enjoyment of eating nihari, or any other dripping salan for that matter, during lunch time in your heavy eid jora, while managing to keep your dupatta looking decent, tossing hair out of your face, and still remaining feminine-looking while dipping your naan into the nihari.

One alternative would be to skip the shorba and naan, and just go for the biryani so you can just use your fork and not mess your hands or lipstick. I just wish there would be more grills and less messy food at Pakistani gatherings. Also, I always come home hungry anyway because I never end up eating enough. Or I end up piling on the dessert!

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

I have never eaten Nihari in my life!

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

^ you dont know what you missing.

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

I wonder what is the need of eating lunch when you are looking this pretty. just doll up and act snob... ok just eat salad if you are dying of hunger.

Waisay bhi looking at girl eating nihari on eid day is a minor turn off

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

LD, what about paya (made out of trotters) ? even better than nihari :yummy: my mum’s is the best.

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

haha! that is so unfair! so we should starve?

btw, the way men eat is enough to put you off your food anyway. They’re so into their food they look like they’re going to fall into their plates. :hehe:

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

At eid dinners when you're decked up, always stick with rice dishes. Yes, use the fork and knife. Its less messy.

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

Eeeewwww...nope never had trotters...

anyway In my opinion, I think the women shouldnt be at teh table anyway

they should be standing at the kitchen sink washing up

and if there are already washer uppers ...the otehr women should be standing around helping serve the kids and men and filling up glasses and plates....

Goodness me...out customs are being lost

and whats this about eating with FORKS

why cant you eat with spoons...

Actually with HANDS

Lordy Lordy, Our poor customs...what are we going to pass onto our children!

Cat Lady.. men are allowed to guzzle down their food... its a manly trait and means they are enjoying your food...all that hard work you put in the morning is being appreciated

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

this is what I mean

This Specimen of Pakistani girl child thingy

uses a KNIFE to help her eat rice

shocking!

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

LD you’ll be pleased to know, we first warmed up the food and dished out for the men. Only after they had finished eating was the table set for women.

Men - why do we treat them like royalty.

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

Why? never eaten rice with a knife and fork? I was forced to master the art in boarding school.

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

Good CAT Lady woman....

I am relieved , that is one custom that you can pass onto your girls...

they will throw it back in your face ... nevermind Eh!

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

yeah whats up with that ?

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

you are declared a non-desi, just a brown skin Brit (no “of Pakistani descent”)!

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

you are joking…

you were TAUGHT?

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

not unless they really want to know how?

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

I refuse to be called brown skinned:snooty:

I insist on being called " nearly white"

it make me feel better about me

and then I can look down upon the not nearly whites

Of course I will have to look upto the “white” people …but Im okay with that…

we must have things to aspire too

If micheal jackson can do it in this Janam…I dont see why I cant…

I not… it’ll have to be in my next!

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

I don't like nihari at all, think i've only had it once so i don't even remember wot it's like now...i love rice dishes, so i usually eat biriyani when we go out to eat so it's a plus that i don't get messy also! Like yesterday for Eid, i wasn't too dressed up (just a simple suit) and i had chicken biriyani w/salad, oh and some aloo keema too...and i don't eat rice with a fork, i use a SPOON! :D

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

Yes LD, and how to courtsey before the teachers amongst other things.

Re: fancy suit, dupatta and shorba

Men are just like horses, you need to feed their tummy so that they do the donkey work for you. It is just so simple a creature known to womankind.

Lazy daisy, worry not ! customs are still intact. We still have horses and donkeys around us :k:
