I still can’t figure out the enjoyment of eating nihari, or any other dripping salan for that matter, during lunch time in your heavy eid jora, while managing to keep your dupatta looking decent, tossing hair out of your face, and still remaining feminine-looking while dipping your naan into the nihari.
One alternative would be to skip the shorba and naan, and just go for the biryani so you can just use your fork and not mess your hands or lipstick. I just wish there would be more grills and less messy food at Pakistani gatherings. Also, I always come home hungry anyway because I never end up eating enough. Or I end up piling on the dessert!
anyway In my opinion, I think the women shouldnt be at teh table anyway
they should be standing at the kitchen sink washing up
and if there are already washer uppers ...the otehr women should be standing around helping serve the kids and men and filling up glasses and plates....
Goodness me...out customs are being lost
and whats this about eating with FORKS
why cant you eat with spoons...
Actually with HANDS
Lordy Lordy, Our poor customs...what are we going to pass onto our children!
Cat Lady.. men are allowed to guzzle down their food... its a manly trait and means they are enjoying your food...all that hard work you put in the morning is being appreciated
I don't like nihari at all, think i've only had it once so i don't even remember wot it's like now...i love rice dishes, so i usually eat biriyani when we go out to eat so it's a plus that i don't get messy also! Like yesterday for Eid, i wasn't too dressed up (just a simple suit) and i had chicken biriyani w/salad, oh and some aloo keema too...and i don't eat rice with a fork, i use a SPOON! :D
