Famous People in TV/Media who speak Urdu w/o an accent

Even aapaa Bushra has a slight accent. So here goes:

Zia Muhi’uddin (beautiful expression)
Anwar Maqsood
Qazi Waajid
Qawi Khan
Tal’at Hussain (slight ego problem there lol)
Jamshed Ansari (marhoom)
Mahmood Ali
Subhani Bhai Younus
Begum Khursheed Mirza
Arsh-e-Munir (marhoomah)
Shakeel (not sure what has happened to his acting lately though)
Moen Akhtar
Badar Khalil (too Dehelvi for my taste lol)
Khalidah Riyaasat (marhoomah)
Aisha Khan (Khalidah’s sister)
Sania Saeed
Rahat Kazmi
Tamanna
Ishrat Haashmi (she passed away?? :crying:)

please keep adding…

Disclaimer: This is not to start a fight or to claim that the “Urdu” spoken by these individuals is any better than that spoken by the rest. Well it is definitely better than the younger generation but you get my point!

Re: Famous People in TV/Media who speak Urdu w/o an accent

I agree Urdu coming from these mouths sounds good...although i prefer the deccani or the lucknow urdu!!!!

Re: Famous People in TV/Media who speak Urdu w/o an accent

which accent ?

There are so many who speak good urdu

How can one forget Talat hussain

Sania Saeed
Rahat Kazmi

Few people had fantastic voice quality
for instance Tahira Wasti’s husband ( forgot his name :konfused: )
Mustafa Qureshi, Although he is from movies

Shakeel
(late ) Khalida Riayasat
and many more

Added in original post ... Keep going!!

Code_Red, I agree with you, but like standardized Arabic, there is also such a beast as “standardized” Urdu, and was spoken well into the 80’s…

My mistake on forgetting Tal’at Hussain is unforgivable though.

PS: Did you mean Rizwan Wasti?? The “Mr. Lordish English Accent” Fellow lol

PSS: Oops, sorry about your name there … didn’t mean to write that haha

Re: Famous People in TV/Media who speak Urdu w/o an accent

zia mohiyuddin
anwar maqsood

oh and one person who speaks urdu in panjabi accent but I always loved lsitening to his urdu was Naeem Bukhari

Added! Zia Muhi'uddin is my idol when it comes to speaking Urdu. Often I try to mimic his style (or at least attempt to speak ALL Urdu and ALL English and never mix the two) in gatherings...

PS: OK don't get carried away; you know my position on idols lol

Re: Famous People in TV/Media who speak Urdu w/o an accent

You have mentioned most of them. Out of your list Talat Hussain for me really stands out. He has a razor sharp tone and a talafuz to die for.

Re: Famous People in TV/Media who speak Urdu w/o an accent

I don't mind them speaking in any accent as long as it's mostly Urdu. What I can't stand is 50% English and 50% Urdu.

Yes, the 50/50 deal is my pet peeve as well...

Ohohoho!!! Suhani bhai Yunus!!!

TLK, hae hae kya yaad dila diya diptee!!! lol
baishak Begum Khursheed Mirza aur Arsh-e-Munir

Bhai log, tum sab Tamanna ko bhool rahay ho...
