Because there are things that have been part of the hindu culture we have not been able to shake off, they still continue to affect behaviour of many people. The reason is the same as for the girl who was stripped naked and molested by hundreds of men while the thing was being filmed.
Wow good explanation. I am not at fault. It is because of somebody else. Why cant you guys shake of the Hindu culture even after becoming a part of Islam. Is the hold of the hindu culture so strong that you miss the basic tenets of Islam.

I am pretty religiously inclined for most of the part but I want to know that where in Shariah it says that if a non Muslim insults Prophet Mohammad , he/she needs to be killed. In Prophet’s life he never took any personal revenge, in fact took care of the neighbors who used to throw trash at him.
and now Pakistani politicians are doing siyasat on this matter. Corrupt criminal Chodry Shujaat is saying that govt should not maaf karo asiya bibi as she is the mujrim of toheen–risalat. I want to ask this asshole is that when he was the partner of that dictator and robbing the nation left and right, which sunnat of rasool was he following at that time.

IMO, the death penalty is a completely irrational and unfair punishment for "blasphemy", which in the first place should not be a crime unless it is within the scope of a real crime like inspiring violence against groups of people based on religious association.
If a country wants to have such irrational laws than it should offer all non-muslims the option to leave and pay for their re-settlement somewhere else, before being subject to such laws.
If freedom of both faith and speech are denied on the basis of a certain religion's edicts on both its followers and others, then doesn't it call into question how genuine in their faith the people who appear to be followers of such a faith are?
This is disgusting to me and among the billion other reasons why I would never ever live in Pakistan. I consider myself to have won the lottery by having parents that were able to leave and have me in a modern liberal country.

whatever, if she had said something wrong , she should be given the punishment as per the islamic law, who is governor punjab to say that amend the law?
ab is tarah har kisi k liay law amend nai ho sakta hai, i believe this is a pure case to be dealt by islamic law and not by pakistani law
secondly , who are people to say that this punishment(if she had done wrong) is wrong ? did they forget that still in saudi arabia, they cut ur hands for robbery which is an islamic law by the way, so why don't u ask them that how they are living in 14th century?

One needs to remember the story of the Prophet (SAW) when he traveled to Taif to invite people towards Islam. They stoned and pelted him until his whole body was soaking in blood and his shoes were filled with it. The angels came and asked his permission if they should destroy the city and its people. What did the prophet do..you all know ....Its a big lesson for us.
another time...a lady had to travel with her belongings to another city, she wasn't aware of the fact that the person holding her belongings in her journey was the prophet, she was not muslim at the time, and she bad mouthed, cursed, said all the negative things, and in the journey the prophet stayed silent until the lady reached her destination and asked the man ...oh you generous one...i didn't get your name..He said I am Muhammad. and the lady became muslim at that instant..
just a sad state of how US muslims are today and can learn from the prophets lessons

this is really unfortunate ,fighting between few uneducated women was brought to this height stupidity of awarding the death sentense . the qari who brought this matter is the real culprit ,this fool was shown speaking on the camera very glad and said gleefully that he became so happy that tears came through his eyes when he heard about death sentense. this man should be sacked from the position he is holding in his capacity as religious head of the city.
educated people of india and pakistan should take initiative against religious bigotry,this type of event should not occure anywhere in the future

Very nice post - the only voice of reason here. This is not about which side of the border is better - its is about a woman who is caught up in an unfortunate situation. All of us should be in her corner - this is not the time to take potshots and prove who is worse - and that is the impression I am getting. Yeah, we are doing such and such, but you guys are doing worse. As if somehow that makes it all right.
For once, let us stop this garbage attack on each other and just get behind this woman's cause.

do you know the word jihad is mentioned 41 times approx in the quran, and the words peace/mercy/compassion mentioned 355 times.....why do these people pick the former to pratice? and even then, its contorted.

I think...the (non)muslims people committing blasphemy should first be informed/enlightened/teachings (because some of them they simply just don't know the islamic values or respecting the other religions) of Islam at some islamic center before prosecuting them...in this way...people would love to join Islam instead of hating it... :)
