Then she can do something similar. Her parents are near by so why doesn’t she just not see them for a few months. Lets see how that goes. People say one thing when they are not faced with the problem. When its actually their family their views change drastically.
I hear you. It’s very easy to talk about a situation that you know may never ever happen. You can go ahead and make all kinds of statements when you are convinced that you will never have to deliver on them.
Having said that, I do believe that she wants the best for her kids and I know that it bothers her that they miss out on stuff that they could otherwise experience.
I have the exact same situation. In laws are in Pakistan and all our vacation time is spent visiting them, not to mention the money as well. We both have reached a deal where both of take a little unpaid leave addition to the two weeks and visit a place in btw US and Pakistan. We visited Turkey last year, stayed there for 5 days and then continued our vacation to Pakistan. Before that we visited Dubai. Since my wedding was in Pakistan because his family is there, our honeymoon was a stop on our way back to the US (we visited Rome and Paris.)
Try that if you can…visit places in Asia or Europe before arriving in India.
I like Rabia’s suggestion too.
And I would add to it that perhaps they should only consider having family vacations every other year. This would allow them to save up enough funds and accumulate enough vacation time from work.
Meanwhile they should budget to send him to see his parents each year.
