I have just returned from a trip to Gilgit Baltistan, I have been thoroughly charmed by its enchanting beauty. Long considered the most beautiful country in the world, Pakistan.
We all have at least dreamed once in our lives for a Baltistan trip. The most obvious reason for this dream is the beauty of the place that is so alluring. When one compares scenic beauty with another Baltistan is always used as a reference. The beauty of the place is so immaculate that one can’t help but praise the scenic landscape that Baltistan has been blessed with.
Beauty as seen in Baltistan is reminiscent of mans first abode, Deosai & Minimerg . Beauty as displayed here by the towering snow capped mountains, lush green plains, crystal blue & green lakes, azure skies, rich forests and the cleanliness of the place is unmatched by any other place in the world.
The setting of the place is so beautiful that words aren’t quite enough to describe the scenic views. It is as if a fragment of what we all call paradise was put here by Allah. The picturesque hills with lush green meadows, fresh air free from the pollution of the modern world, lakes that reflect the clear green & blue skies, cattle grazing in the vast meadows, the towering mountains of the great Karakoram, Himaliya and hindukuch reaching out for the sky and silence is what makes this place a dream destination for entire world.
The scenic landscapes of Deosai, Sheosar & Rama lake and meadows will captivate you as you make your way slowly through the hiking trails. Breathe in the beauty of the place and feel it grow within you with every step you take.
Take a village tour to Hushe and feel the warmth of the love radiating from the people here. Witness the age old traditions that have been kept alive by the people here and be a part of it when in this land of beauty.
Take a Baltistan Tour and then you come to know what real beauty is. If one is said to describe Baltistan then beauty would be the word.

Most comfortable seat in Natco but just for alternative driver
We took Faisal Movers from Band Road (near Niazi Adda) Lahore at 1:45pm and it Drops us at 6:15pm “Islamabad Bus Terminal” then Faisal Movers shuttle service drops us to Pervadaee Mor. Rent was Rs.800 per person and service was very good.
We took taxi till PerVadaee in Rs.300 (only 3km) which took us 1.5 hour because of Dharna. Our Natco Daewoo tickets were 7:30pm and we had only 15 minutes left when we reach Natco terminal but Alhumdulillah we managed to catch it. Natco charges for Gilgit was Rs.2000/person.
We choose Natco Daewoo Service as it is the more comfortable than Natco Hi-roof but I wouldn’t recommend it for families because it wasn’t comfortable, bus was very old but still it is the best bus service on these routes. We checked Mashabrub and K2 movers they are worst.
Restaurants where Natco stays are the worst ones. Alhumdulillah we got our own food. Werna hum ko be unhi plates mein khana perna tha jin me Bili khati hay.
Faisal Movers is nice Rs.800 Lahore to Rawalpindi
Natco is not recommended for families. Rawalpindi to Gilgit at Rs.2000
Mashabrub and K2 movers are the worst.
Hotels in Gilgit
Gilgit has variety of hotels but Night stay in Gilgit or Astor is never recommended. We took 2 a local hotel for Rs.1200 each. Hotel was nice quality.
We were tired after hectic Natco travel so we stayed in Gilgit for night. Another reason to stay in the Gilgit was Ameer Hamza. He is from Gilgit as well. We had planned to go fresh next morning with him and then we will have a full day.
Gilgit to Rama Lake to Tareshing – Rupal Valley to Chillum Choki
Me at Rama Lake with Azhar
We took bread, chicken spread and jam in breakfast. We were ready at 6:00am but Hamza comes at 6am then we started our journey. We reached Astore at 10:50am then take breakfast / lunch from Rama Gateway Restaurant. Their service was pretty slow and wasted our 1.5 hour.
Rama lake road was open for jeep and we reached Rama Lake at 12:20 noon. Way to Rama Lake was fabulous even better than lake. It’s a small dark green lake but a real peaceful place. We were passionate to see more so we spent only 20 min at Rama and started our journey again.
After 20 min at Rama Lake, We started our journey to Tareshing, We reached Tareshing at 3:10pm
In Tareshing our milestone was Nange Parbet Base Camp and Close Mighty Nanga Parbet View. We started to walk to Rupal Valley top with Ameer Hamza. We took water bottles with us in backpack.
Clouds have been gathered near the top so there were very few chances to view the Nanga Parbat But we were passionate to see it closely. We waited for 30 minutes and hope sky may be clear but It was bad luck and we missed the Nanga Parbat Complete view. When we reached the Rupal Valley top there was a rainbow for few minutes and offering very nice scenic view. It takes us 45 minutes to hike till the top and getting down was very fast and easy.
We took tea with some sandwiches we got. Then we left Tareshing about 5:30pm for Chillum Choki for night stay.
