At what point did you give up on certain relatives?

When you have a family of your own do you think you’ll learn from politics in terms of your interacting with your siblings keeping/maintaning relationships with them?

Never really had any major family politics in my family Alhamdulillah...but my mom always says...forget it just be civil with everyone for the sake of Allah (SWT).

I never ever give up… I think they gave up on me. :bummer:

I hate Politics especially fammily politics becuase I can never get round it… and like other things I have to endure it… though as I get older in my fammily my Veto power increases.

I dont expect to have much sway on matters anyway and am generally accepting of what outcomes they eventually decide upon… in my own home theres no room for anything that doesn’t fit in with my way of thinking… and in emegencies it’s ussually my way or the highway.

I think no matter what, family is family and we need to maintain relationships with them because we can't avoid them forever. If we cut contact then we'll see them at weddings, dawats, etc. and it's just pure drama. The hate and gossip is growing amongst the family.
Though I do believe that if you;ve had enough then keep your distance as much as possible and ignore them.

I dont believe in playing any politics in the family. We do that enough at work. In the family, either let it go or let it happen. Why play games.

I agree that it’s difficuilt not to play some politics with extended fammily, they hate my guts and the feelings mutual. :kursi:

However with immeadite fammily at least one can come clean and talk straight. :slight_smile:

Every family has politics...I give up on people when I see them hurting me or my loved ones.

buddy, everyone's extended family is like that, and some are even worse. why stoop into dirty politics to meet their standard? call it a spade a spade and keep aloof.

My extended family loves to poke me about me being engaged to an Indian. It's always like "indian's are cheap, they have the worst style, their food is nasty, they talk like this, they smell, they're ugly" and they constantly say it to me.
first I tried to ignore it, then I decided to loosen up and laugh it off, now I just stare at their face while they talk and I just stare.....and stare......and stare...........and stare........and stare some more.
It's works quite well :D
