Family planning and contraception are not for Muslim families, the Turkish president has said, in his latest comments promoting population growth that angered women’s activists.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday it was the responsibility of mothers to ensure the continued growth of Turkey’s population, which has expanded at a rate of around 1.3 percent in the last few years.
“I will say it clearly… We need to increase the number of our descendants,” he said in a speech in Istanbul.
"People talk about birth control, about family planning. No Muslim family can understand and accept that!
“As God and as the great prophet said, we will go this way. And in this respect the first duty belongs to mothers.”
Mr Erdogan and his wife Emine have two sons and two daughters. Earlier this month, the president attended the high-profile marriage of his younger daughter Sumeyye to defence industrialist Selcuk Bayraktar.

مگر سمجھ نہیں آ رہی کہ یہ چال بھی الٹی ہو جائے گی. بلکہ ہو رہی ہے. شام میں جنگ ہے ادھی سے زیادہ آبادی ملک چھوڑ چکی ہے. باقی مر رہی ہے. بھائی اب بھی سدھار جاؤ.تعداد پہ نہیں میعار پہ غور کرو. یہودی تعداد میں سب سے کم ہیں. معیار زندگی بلند کرو اپنی نسلوں کا. تعلیم دو.سوچنے کی آزادی دو. بولنے کی آزادی دو. خود ہی ایک دوسرے پہ تنقید کر کے نظام کو جدید کر دے گی عوام.خود ہی تحریکیں چلاۓ گی. ماحول دو ان کو تھوڑا کھلا … تم ابھی تک تعداد پے اٹکے ہو.

President Erdogan should also have emphasized the health aspect of the mother because the welfare of the mother can become a deciding factor in having or not having a child.

Has the president not heard of the Syrian refugee crisis? Let them migrate to Turkey and your population shall increase. Heck, we will give you some of our Pakistanis if you're that desperate for population growth.

He might have been referring to just the Muslim families in Turkey. What if all the people in Turkey decided to stop using contraceptives or is it just good for Muslims. Imagine the British PM making a similar statement. What would be the ramifications.
Also it is just plain sad to see people wanting one set of rules for themselves while they want everybody else to follow another set of rules. Hypocrisy at its best I think

This is a joke how West have been advising people for family planning while promoting evil approach of feeding people lust of having more and more luxurious life. Countries with lesser population are consuming most of the resources in the world but feel no shame lecturing others for controlling birth. Having said that its not the population that is danger but the satanic lust of getting new model of every thing we use as soon as we see it is on the media. If you actually look into the businesses that are going on today, you will find that they are for satisfying people's desire and lust not for fulfilling needs.
