So I find that whenever I go out somewhere with my family and we all start out in a good mood etc…but somehow something always happens to go wrong and we end up in a fight. I’m not saying this happens each time we go out…but most of the time!! Is this normal…does this happen with your family…or are we just dysfunctional at times??
Re: Family outings
^ I think I read an article about how medical science has proven that there is no such thing as a "normal" family. According to the article.......some of our personality traits are inherited......and come into conflict with the inherited personality traits of other members of our family.
Anyhow, no, you're not abnormal. It happens in most families. Age can have something to do with it as well. The older you become, the more mature you become......and the more restraint you (might) develop. In many families, frequent bickering is common between siblings that are kids/teens....even in their early twenties. And with maturity, things get better.
And you can't control what your sibling/parent is going to say or do. But you do have control over your actions. If you KNOW that a particular comment/behavior will annoy a sibling and destroy the mood....................then don't go there..............have some self-control. Many times, siblings are just looking to get a reaction from you. Your brother/sister might tease you because they enjoy seeing you get angry. You have the option of not responding and letting it get to you. Eventually, your apathy will bore them and they'll leave you alone.
Another option is to talk to the other person (parents/sibling) about it. It could be in the form of an open and civil family discussion. Or a one-on-one discussion with person you're having issues with.
And yet another suggestion: Be positive. You attract more bees with honey than with vinegar. When you compliment someone or do something nice for them......they feel good.....and they feel more motivated to be nice to you. Similarly, negative behavior (name-calling, bullying, condescending remarks, insults) will only prompt the other person to do the same.

Re: Family outings
girly girl, what are the common issues that you guys fight on? is your manly man a lose temper guy?
Re: Family outings
ummmmm - if you are fighting over the driving “skills” then yes! you are absolutely normal!
You see - we fight over driving. If I am driving - then he tells me at each and every second - now do this, now do that, now change the lane, now go fast, now you are too fast - go slow!!! what the HELL!!!
If he is driving - I can’t stand it! He does not even step on the brakes when we are going down the hill, or if someone tries to cut in!
…again what the HELL!!!
so yes !!! Fighting is what keeps our marriage ![]()
but what do you guys fight about?
Re: Family outings
Umm.. if i had a pound for everytime us as a family went out together and started fighting/arguing. I would be a BILLIONAIRE! I dont know if its 'normal' but thats jus us. Sometimes it gets depressing as to why we always argue. But sometimes we jus laugh about it and think whatever. It can be the stupidist things. To the most serious.
But what REALLY makes the flame go wild.. Is when people dont admit their wrong!!!!!!
Re: Family outings
My family we always seem to be arguing and stuff :(
Re: Family outings
How do you reply to all questions in one post?? I’m still pretty new at this ![]()
But thanks for the advice redvelvet…your so right about how siblings are just looking to get a reaction from you. And sometimes they just push a certain button and its so hard not to rebuttle them…but i guess that’s were will power comes into play.
Aramis: I’m guessing you can relate to my situation =P
LP: I would hug you back…but i don’t know how lol!!!
Decent: This girly girl is still looking for her manly man! It’s more family issues like over the smallest things…
NJ: Like i said i’m not married…but i have that driving issue with all the men of my house!!! They are so annoying to drive with! I can’t stand it!
Mixed Beauty: I’d be a billionare right along with you…but i think pounds are worth more than the dollar right now so… =P But yea that’s just the thing…when we go out i’m just waiting for the fight to start…and over the smallest things like lets say we get lost on the way to someones house…and it is depressing!
Aisha: I’d give you a hug too!!
Re: Family outings
Girly grl ... we all feel for you ... my dad has probs with my driving ... i have probs with my sister's driving ... and they all have issues with me talking ... and basically thats how it is ... and i tihnk its because we're a tightly knit family that we can talk to each other about these issues and argue about them ... it does get annoying and painful at times but it sure is a lot of fun
Re: Family outings
haha that's funny
Re: Family outings
I call my little niece girly girl :)
Re: Family outings
libranrulz: What you said was pretty funny! But at the same time quite true, because yes we are a very close knit family and it's frusterating at times, but in the end family is family and we are always there for one another.
Fallen: Awe that's really cute!!
